Morning Ed01, how would you go about the game in Wednesday vs midtjylland? full rotation or a mix of both I understand players need a rest but again I would like a good peformance to keep the boys fit and firing could be a good game for trent and keita to build some fitness coming back from injury, taki needs some minutes to get firing I'd go with

Kelleher
Neco, Williams, Fabs, Tsmikas
Keita, Hendo, Jones
Origi, Taki, Jota

use the full 5 subs, 45 mins Hendo off same as Jota, I did see that Billy was took off at halftime the other day you think he is being lined up for a game?

{Ed001's Note - I would rather give Koumetio a chance than try Rhys Williams again to be honest. Personally I would want to avoid playing either Fabinho or Matip if possible, so maybe Williams would have to play. He does not impress me at all, he simply has no defensive awareness at all. If you have Rhys Williams and Neco Williams down that flank, you certainly do not want Keita in front of them, you need someone with more defensive nous to protect them. It was noticeable yesterday that Hendo and Gini focused on protecting that side after Neco's booking and it made a huge difference. Not sure you would get that kind of protection from Keita. You would have to at least swap Jones and Keita over, I would have far more faith in Jones to do the tracking back and breaking up of attacks. Taki has to start, I am with you on that and Robbo must need a rest by now, he was putting in so much work last night, so Tsimikas also.

The question is what about Kellher? He was excellent last night, even better than Kelleher had been when he played, so surely he should keep his place? ;-) That had me really confused last night, I was wondering if I had been spelling it wrong all this time and he was actually Kellher.}

All sounds very sensible rotation to me. And that team should still be in with a very good chance of beating midtjylland TBH, plenty international footballers there!

I think Kelleher has earned the right to start against Midtjylland. He’s been excellent and looks like he’s a capable number two.

I would literally play youth team and squad players only. Top spot is already secured and we have a rare opportunity to rest up.

I can see Matip and Fab rested on wed so it might be the 2 youngsters in central defence. Kelleher starts again for me as the lad fully deserves it. Neco Williams looks like he is improving with every game so give him another start at RB with Tsmikas at lb. Midfield is usually where we have our most strength in depth but it’s also where we have a large amount of injuries. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of the senior players either start and get brought off or are on the bench in case they are needed late on. I think Naby plays and even Jones as he will be playing on a buzz. Front 3 then Jota who should be chomping at the bit and minamino with Origi. Origi has had some special moments for us but they are well over a season ago now. He needs a big game to stake a claim for his future. Ed’s Is there any update on Milner, Ox and Shaq injuries and return dates as this fixture would have seen all 3 play.

Kelleher has been so good, has he always had this composure like? Seriously impressive.

That jersey will be worth a few bob in years to come, his first starting appearance in the Premier league and they spell his name wrong.

It will be interesting to see what kind of line up Klopp would put in. We may see Cain or Clarkson aswell. Or both. I'm curious of that, is Trent going to play? He needs minutes to get fit and ready for the intensive weeks.

Would we be punished playing Williams and Billy in defense, would uefa see that has a deliberately weakened team? I'd like to see Clarkson and jake can used. Get hendo off at half time if need be and just leave fabinho and matip at home. Wouldn't want any unessecary injury.

I was just round to his mam and dad's yes it is Kelleher Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - that will explain their panicked calls to the police about the whackjob looking through the window....}

Agree Ed - it was noticable how much Gini and Hendo helped cover Nico so effectively - something Keita really needs to improve at IMO.

On Weds though I’d play at least one senior CB to direct the defence

Kelleher
Nico - Rhys - Matip - Tsimikas
Jones - Keita
Shaqiri - Taki - Stewart
Origi

Against Fulham can then give Matip a rest and play Fabinho with Philips.

Zimbo definitely not for me Mitrovic would give phillips a massive headache I would rather keep matip for that game.

I saw a thread the other day where posters were discussing whether Liverpool would get in trouble with UEFA for putting out a weakened/ second string team. My thoughts were that the decision to rotate should be entirely up to the group winners. If they want to rotate then surely that is ok.

The team that the OP has listed is still very strong and could potentially win the game anyway. I would change it slightly and give Fabinho and Hendo a few days off. Play Billy at centre-back and put young Clarkson in the middle or one of the other younger lads. Either way, we have done brilliantly to finish top of the group, given all that has happened in the last couple of months. My opinion is that we should avail of the rewards that having achieved it with a game to spare has to offer.

Restraining order what restraining order🤔.

Zimbo, Shaq is injured and so far there is no indication he will be fit for Wednesday. And who is Stewart?

{Ed001's Note - Layton Stewart, teenage forward.}

Zimbo's lineup would b the one, I would pick. I want all our snr players to get as much rest as they can and be nowhere near that game, tbh. This is like a mini winter break for them and they need to take full advantage of it.

16.) 07 Dec 2020
07 Dec 2020 16:17:04
I would play Adrian, why the injuries we have been having why would we even risk Kelleher in a dead rubber?

17.) 07 Dec 2020
07 Dec 2020 16:38:23
Matip needs to be wrapped in cotton wool between games. Not sent to Denmark to play in a meaningless game. Fulham and other league games are far more important.

18.) 07 Dec 2020
07 Dec 2020 16:53:18
Personally I would prefer to save Kelleher rather than risk him playing behind a weakened defence that may let a few n and kill any confidence he has built up. Stick Adrian in, its dead rubber anyway.

19.) 07 Dec 2020
07 Dec 2020 17:48:07
Surely Origi could do with some game time.

20.) 07 Dec 2020
07 Dec 2020 18:43:53
Origi could do with a move in January. I thank him for all that he has done in a red shirt but its obvious his time with us is over, Jota has seen to that, he has carved his name into our history but now for his own good he needs to make a fresh start elsewhere.

21.) 07 Dec 2020
07 Dec 2020 20:11:28
Hendo, Gini, matip, fabs etc should be no where near the plane.

Oh was that the guy who scores for fun in the u18 ed?

{Ed001's Note - off the top of my head I can't remember, but it could be.}

Yes that is him Mart a top prospect. Looking forward to seeing him tomorrow. Also I would assume Clarkson and Cain will both get an outing.
