Chris Wood is underrated as a number 9, for me more effective than firmino as a striker, and definitely origi .
In a squad he would give us something different .

How about no, he’s a 29 year old journeyman striker.

Hahahaha I didn't realise how old he was I should of checked, I thought he was a lot younger, but he is above Burnley level 😆.

In today’s world of modern science why does being 29 necessarily matter.

I mean we have bought people like Milner, maxi Rodriguez and Jari Litmanen who where all that age I believe. Some that where older - significantly so in the case of Gary mc.

Having a “journeyman” can often add a little to the squad. Even if only for a short time. Such as klavan.

And don’t forget sometimes you don’t know how good people are until they are given the chance - see Nat Philips.

More the point is that he isn't good enough. Yes he is having a good spell at the moment and yes he scored yesterday albeit a penalty but are we really going down that route? I mean, Chris Wood! Really?

That’s my point too Irish, he’s the kind of player Roy Hodgson would sign. Just a very average journeyman player.

Ok i get everyones point he ain't good enough, i wasnt saying he was the 2nd coming of alan shearer, more when i have seen him he is strong, good in air, holds up play an can bring other players in whilst scoring goals. He will do better in a more attacking side with better quality, one thing for sure is we need something different up front, maybe not chris wood but someone with similar qualities.

It’s this type of response though why other fans often see us as arrogant.

As of now over the last four years the lad has scored more than Bobby in a significantly worse team.

I’m not saying he would be right for us but I think there’s a certain disrespect going on that’s not really warranted.

I don't think it is arrogance at all. If the bar is to best Bobby's goal tally over 4 seasons then there will be a plethora of players to pick from but that doesn't mean the majority of them will be up to the level of playing for a club like Liverpool. Just because you score goals (not that many to be honest) for a lower league club doesn't mean he will rock up to Liverpool and score more, it could easily be the opposite.

Again Irish, spot on. I think Rickie Lambert and Paul Konchesky prove that point, just because they were OK at a lower club doesn’t mean they can suddenly step up.

And the point is you don’t know they can’t either.

For every Paul konchesky there is an Andy Robertson.

Nothing to do with arrogance or small club. His style doesn't suit how we play. Fit is important.
