I’m sure this post won’t be universally liked or agreed with, but I think we should get behind Mane rather than all of this “he is past his best/ sell him because he has lost his pace etc” diatribe.

He has been a fantastic player for Liverpool and by his own admission, hasn’t had the best of seasons (to the point he has sought medical intervention) so the guy must be pretty down at the minute. For all the well he should play 100% his best 100% of the time, don’t forget he is human. No salary in the world changes that fact and you only have to look how badly it all turned out for poor Caroline Flack after she got crap off the media - Mane is one of our own and as supporters we should be supporting him.

I dare say knowing we are all behind him and want him to do well will help him get back to his best, far quicker than the “he had a bad game so sell him” crap that gets spouted.

I always found words of encouragement to be more effective than a big stick!

There's a handful of 'supporters' on here that like to abuse players to make themselves feel better but on the main most on here have been fully supportive of Mane.
However, we also have to recognize that our front three are all ageing and our squad is in need of some pretty major investment. Mane turns 30 next year and this could be the last summer that we could get a reasonably decent fee for him.
Fergie mastered the art of letting players go at the right time, we have to be able to do the same.

That is the reality of the world that we live in. We all want to players to perform like machines. A slight dip and people want him to be sold! Still we expect loyalty from players! A bit of introspection and the world would be a better place to live.

Absolutely love the guy, great post Kd.
I have a minimal social media presence and feel much better for it.
Facebook and Twitter are now the root of all evil : (.

“I’m sure this post won’t be universally liked or agreed with, but I think we should get behind Mane”

It won’t be universally like to get behind one of our player. What does that say more than anything else.

For me the issue is that he has previous for it, when he was at Salzburg and heard about the Southampton interest he lost form/ downed tools. Same at Southampton when he heard of the interest from Us and United. I can accept a loss of form, but when there is a tinge of giving up then that’s where I can’t support it. When he is in our shirt then I’ll back him. But I don’t think he wants to be here anymore.

I love mane as a player but just as you have to make tough decisions in life, so you have to make them in football. They may not be popular decisions either but as long as they are for the overall good, that’s the most important thing. In football, I don’t believe you can afford to be sentimental about players, after all they are only transient employees. If selling mane this summer allows us to rejuvenate the squad in more urgent areas, then so be it. No player is bigger than the club and if the club is going to benefit from a sale of a player, then that’s all good with me.

I agree mate. For me the issue is who would replace Mane if he leaves and I don't think the alternatives are good enough. I like Neto and Raphinha but they are left footed wingers even though they can play on both wings and we have Salah and Elliott already who are left footed. So for me, I think we should bide our time with him and wait for the right replacement to become available instead of rushing him out.

He’s signing for Palestinian Utd.
