Surprised there hasn't been an announcement on Gini leaving yet.

Assuming it's been decided now and I just think he's earned the opportunity to get a proper send off during the last game of the season and say a proper goodbye to the fans.

Regardless of opinions this season, he was a vital part of us winning the league and champs as well as being a great servant to the team.

Feel like he's earned a wave goodbye atleast!

Eds is there no chance of the club matching any offers he may have?

{Ed001's Note - why would anyone want to keep him? He downed tools most of the season.}

Agreed Ed001, anybody who wants to keep him clearly hasn’t been watching the same team i’ve been watching in 2021. He’s been a disgrace and couldn’t even be bothered to do the most basic of footballing tasks, such as passing the ball quickly with any pace or making himself available for a pass, at a time when the team desperately needed the older players to step up. That Real Madrid performance in particular may prove to be his Riise own goal moment that seriously damages his legacy.

I don’t think he’s been quite that bad, lol, but the contract offered to Thiago has probably ****ed him right off.

The only reason to keep Gini is that he always been fit and our other midfielders haven't. For me, he's never played to best for more than a handful of games a season. To be fair, it was usually big ones where he'd deliver, like the 4-0 v Barca. And he was one of the few bright spots against Athletico last year. And I think in his first season we badly needed a win at Spurs for the CL places and he turned up for that one too. But week in, week out he seems to play within himself.

Klopp has (imo) tried to replace him as first choice 3 times, first with Ox, then Keita, and now with Thiago. He has only hung on as de facto first choice because of injuries to other players.

Even if he hadn't mentally checked out months ago, I'd still be looking to get someone who performs to their best more often.

Ed 001,do you not think there's a bit of him having to play a lot of football for us and Holland that maybe has gone towards him fading in the 2nd half of the season? Robbo was flying till Xmas but he seems to have been cut a bit more slack for his form since because he, like Gini has been more or less ever present for club and country. Just think its a shame to see a player that's contributed as much as Gini over the last few years going on a free.

{Ed001's Note - no, Robbo is given slack because he tries whether he plays well or not. Gini has been lazy, no effort at all for most of the season, that is what he has done wrong. What has he contributed? 99% of the time he hides, offers nothing, he is a ghost on the pitch and it is a very rare occasion when shows what he can do. He was the same at Newcastle, only bothered when he wanted to there as well. I do not even think he can be considered as a good signing personally.}

Really Ed? not just this season, you think he's been a bad signing in general?

{Ed001's Note - not bad, not good, just a non-entity.}

I mainly agree a middle of the road signing. But I give him credit this season for always being available for selection. While all around him were crumbling. Without him we would not of made the top 4 this season. And on Sunday I pick Gini over Jones atm.

Better than a middle of the road signing. he's given a lot over his time here, the last few months where EVERYONE has struggled shouldn't change that.

Never understood this idea that Gini will be hard to replace. How is a guy who only produces 3-6 great performances per season hard to replace? Why aren't the best clubs in the world falling over the top of each other to get him? Don't listen to Gary Neville, he really isn't the most underrated midfielder in the Premier League, he doesn't have enough effect on the game.
