I am hearing klopp is happy with midfield and we won't be replacing gini insisting the players we have are enough, I hope we aren't just going to renew contracts players like salah, kelleher, trent, vvd, fab, Allison etc while they all are vital to tie down the club still need new quality players to spark a fresh challenge .

Surprised at that. I rate Jones and expect him to kick on next season, but I think we’re missing a trick by not going for Bissouma or someone of that ilk.

Of course, the money simply may not be there.

Thiago, Hendo and Fab is a quality midfield.
But then having Milner, ox, keita and Jones as back ups, there is a big drop off in quality.
We should move keita on and bring in a CM that is of good quality and is consistently available.

Bringing in let’s say Neuhaus or Bissouma, we’d be getting a player that is young but already very good and have good injury records. They’d help to bridge the gap in quality too.
Think I’d go for Neuhaus just because of Bissouma and the AFCON.

Exactly mark08, it would be making same mistake we made with defence season just gone, relying on unreliable players even the defence I am wary of being injury prone especially after some serious injuries, I hope we have learnt from past mistakes .

Spot on, ArAy1969. I don't know why people are concerned about what Klopp said. It literally means nothing. We are in for midfielders and we all know that. Klopp does not talk about transfers even tho, he knows he needs players. He never spoke about needing a midfielder when we all know he wanted Thiago. Never spoke about needing a CB whereas we all knew Konate was more or less nailed on. Many did not know we were in for Jota yet here he is.

People need to calm down and let the summer play out and let us see what happens. No need getting over-excited over some empty quotes made by managers regarding transfers.

Don't believe that, I expect several midfield departures with a first team level player coming in. What is the point of having Shaq, Ox Keita, Milner, Grujic etc, when Klopp is clearly reluctant to pick them.
If those fringe players could not get a game last season, there is no hope for them this season.

It would be a huge error on our part if we don’t manage to move on some of the fringe/ injury prone players in the squad and not bring in 2-3 fresh faces in midfield and up top. In midfield, we need to move on the likes of Keita, grujic and Wilson. Wiji has already gone, Milner and ox are both solid players, but ox is always injured and Milner is at the end of his career and can’t be relied on to play week in week out. I’d personally move one of them on, and bring in two midfielders. Hendo, Thiago and fab is a very solid starting midfield but I don’t see it lasting the majority of a season due to injuries and the supporting cast isn’t good enough so it needs to be addressed if people seriously think we will get anywhere close to challenging next season

Up top, Which I thought was our biggest issue during the season, purely because for 90% of the season, firmino, mane and salah were all fit and playing and they massively underperformed as a group. At least in other areas of the pitch, there were injuries that affected their ability to perform the way they had done in the past. Salah was the only one that pulled his weight up front, and even then, he could have also been better. Jota is class but the verdict is still out on him being dependable enough to be fit for a full season, the early signs suggest not. Mane and firmino have fast become shadows of their previous selves, of course that could change next season but I wouldn’t depend on it and I really doubt that will be the case for firmino specifically, I just think it’s been way longer than just one season with him. With shaq and origi hopefully being moved on finally, minamino either going out on loan or being moved on and possibly one of mane and firmino being sold, I would think we need at least one top forward coming in.

Fab, Thiago and Hendo are all quality but between the 3 they missed 41 league games last season. Add to that the back up midfield is ox and Naby who missed 51 league games between them last season.

The only place we need to fill is a back up to Fabinho. He’s the only natural DM we have in the squad and we’ve seen this season what happens when he’s not there.
We saw it with City the season before when they tried to play Fernandinho at the back and they’ve just lost a CL final because they lined up without a natural DM in the team.
The importance of that position cannot be understated in your ability to control a game. Bissouma would be great if we could do it but whoever we sign would have to be happy with a place on the bench.
