Patson Daka has been omitted from the Zambia squad, the manager claiming it is due to him attempting to sort his future.

Absolutely no idea on how advanced our links are with the player but maybe a club somewhere has drawn near to an agreement?

Just passing on what I've read. Doubt we'd sign him without having moved on atleast one of Origi and Shaqiri.

{Ed002's Note - All players who are likely moving this summer have been excluded from the Zambian squad - this includes Daka and Sakala (who is moving to Rangers).}

is it possible Liverpool would be the one to move for him, Ed002?he has been constantly linked and you mentioned down below about the club looking to add a forward.

{Ed002's Note - Patson Daka (S) the player signed a new contract at RBS last season when he was assured of the chance to replace Haaland - a chance he has taken very well under Jesse Marsch. RBL could be interested in taking him in the future but the timing is not right now as they have no intention of selling Haaland unless a very significant offer were made. He is a player who would depart for AFCON which puts many clubs off. His agent and his assistant (Freddie Kanoute) have offered him around without the permission of RBS - this will be driven by the far higher wages offered elsewhere and certainly London-based clubs have been approached including Crystal Palace, who have previously made an offer for him, Arsenal, West Ham and Spurs. West Ham are clearly in need of such an addition but have a huge list of strikers they have looked at and enquired about, although Daka would be their first choice. It is pretty clear there will be interest in him in the summer from a number of sides, perhaps including Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool. Mr Mourinho showed an interest when at Spurs and could look again but his priority is Belotti for Roma. Any of these could look to the player although Liverpool will be wary of losing yet another player to AFCON with Mane and Salah already off. Jesse Marsch moving to RBL may give a hint to his immediate future.}

Not that it's much to go on but somebody claiming to be an ex west ham employee thinks Liverpool are closer to signing him than the Hammers, (I don't think it's former player Kanoute who is his agent) . Seems very expensive to plug a gap where there isn't one, yet.

Zambia Have not qualified for AFCON so that is no longer a concern.

Just to expand upon Razor's point, I read that future AFCONs (after the one in early 2022) have gone back to being in the summer? Could one of the Eds please confirm this?

So there will be an AFCON in Jan/ Feb 22, then Jun/ Jul 23, Jun/ Jul 25 etc.

If so, Daka's availability for us won't be affected by AFCONs going forward.

{Ed002's Note - The plan is that they will be held in the summer from 2023 but the release of the players comes before the European season finishes and attempts are being made by FIFA to have CAF move it to start at the end of June, run through July and end at the beginning of August to minimise any issues.}

OK, thanks for that Ed002. Hopefully FIFA and CAF can sort out a solution that doesn't affect players in the run in.

{Ed002's Note - That is why FIFA has made that proposal as games in Europe run to the end of May.}

So many tournaments already. And there's talk of a FIFA World Cup every two years now. How will structures remain standing? Domestic leagues, Regional leagues, Super leagues and international tournaments. And all the qualifiers for them. Are we approaching overkill?

Last I heard, Daka is of decent interest to West Ham.

{Ed0666's Note - who wouldn’t want to get moyes-iahed?

I've heard that PSG are late bidders and staging a Paris Daka rally.
