I'd love Ramos for 2 years, still quality. Plenty said Thiago Silva was too old moving to Chelsea or Cavani would be no good for United, he'll probably stay in Spain or go PSG i think. Varane would be brilliant if him being available is true could get rid of Matip and we'd have 4 quality CBs. Konate probably the only business we'll do in that position though you'd imagine.

I don't get why people want players like Ramos or Coutinho or Dembele. Real Madrid and Barcelona are on par with Liverpool, not leagues above them. If these players are not good enough for those teams what makes people think they are good enough for us? PSG and Utd might throw silly money after over-the-hill reputations but, with the exception of Morientes, i can't think of any high rep cast-offs we've snapped up. Perhaps Everton might be keen?

IDOG, I agree with you on the specific players, Ramos is a complete non-starter for me not least due to his history with us!

However, I don't buy that just because a player didn't 'fit' at a certain club that they are automatically not good enough for us.

Coutinho didn't fit at Milan, but for us, for a few years, he was perfect.

Suso and Luis Alberto and Gulasci didn't fit with us (either style, or manager or other better players ahead of them) but have had great careers elsewhere. Its often quite a shrewd move for the buying club as a player who doesn't fit is usually a lot cheaper.

Of the ones you mentioned, Dembele is the only one I would be at all interested in. There is a player there, one that prompted Barcelona to pay a massive fee for him. I wonder whether Klopp could tease that player out? I wouldn't put him top of the list, but I would be quite excited if he did join.

The Ramos/ Salah thing was 3 years ago surely we’re all done sulking about that. He’d be good beside VVD for 2 years. Even just having that kind of personality around the place should be a huge boost especially to the younger lads. I’d much rather Varane if he’s available. How he’s only 28 i’ve no clue he’s been around forever.

Varane or Ramos are absolutely ludicrous suggestions. There is no way we are signing another centre back at that financial level (Ramos on a "free" would still be extremely expensive) .

I agree on preferring Varane due to Ramos being Ramos (plus his age and injuries this season) but if we were to sign Varane it would be to replace someone and I don't mean Gomez or Matip. No thanks.
