As Daka looks like going to Leicester this can only mean one thing announce Mbappe.

If he does, I'm gutted. We could have afforded him and he looks pretty class.

{Ed002's Note - How many games would he have got?}

I can't help but agree, Toby!

Ain’t nobody ever seen Daka play apart from YouTube or Fifa. And that includes Brendan Rodgers.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m pretty sure Leicester have seen him play

Before last summer we said we didn’t need another forward because how many minutes would they get if they did come in because Origi hardly played. Well Jota proved if you’re good enough you’ll get plenty of game time. Klopp rotates the midfield lots even when there’s not injuries. At the moment Bobby, Mane and Mo all play 90% of the season minutes and that’s with Jota. Another forward will allow more rotation and competition for places. But it has to be a forward that can compete.

On top of all the numerous obvious reasons we should buy a centre forward, the other reason that nobody seems to be considering is a potential change of position for Bobby. His improved form has come with a slight change in play style, he played a bit deeper and much more like a number 10 than a false 9 during the run in. Asking him to concentrate purely on playmaking and not worry about goals so much really seemed to help his form, he now seems to save himself for late runs into the box or set pieces when it comes to looking for goals. As such i think its plausible that he may play as a number 10 in a 4231 again for a lot of games next season, which is exactly how we played for the first half of 2018/ 19, though we often seem to have this Mandela Effect type of brain fog where we seem to think we have just always played 433. Bobby in the 10 behind a new striker could be the next logical evolution for this side.

We are holding talks for a significantly better player. Just wait you all.
Its not mbappe.

That has really upset me Akira, I thought Mbappe was in the bag. So Ronaldo it is then.

If we're using the "who will he replace" logic, I sippose qe can assume that Ihenacho or Vardy are on their way out.

I agree with JK. You could have had the same argument when Jota arrived. How many minutes will he get? It just seems sometimes Liverpool are the only big PL club this gets labelled at. Was it asked of Ruben Dias when he signed for City when the already had Laporte, Stones and signed Ake?

15.) 18 Jun 2021
18 Jun 2021 20:51:36
To be fair Ed002, how many games will Malen get with non of out forwards looking like leaving mate?

{Ed002's Note - I agree - the Origi games.}

OliRed, who else? Hardly that exManU hairdresser?

17.) 18 Jun 2021
18 Jun 2021 22:27:14
Those comparisons aren't similar enough in my opinion. Jota was competing with Origi for 1st backup, absolutely he is miles better. So then Jota is the 4th person competing for 3 spots. Whoever we sign up front will make it 5 people for 3 spots, if they are of a very high level.

The Dias comparison also can't agree with. Yes Laporte was superb but Stones hadn't impressed at all and the Ake signing looked like good squad depth for a versatile player. Dias would have expected that he was signing to be first choice with Laporte.

18.) 19 Jun 2021
19 Jun 2021 01:38:02
That is my point Sean. How much did Stones and Ake cost? £50 and £40 million. Squad players then?

19.) 19 Jun 2021
19 Jun 2021 01:40:04
Man City have Forden, Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling and Torres up front. Will they replace Aguero? 100% they will. So why does anybody ask how many minutes these players will get?

{Ed0666's Note - or city will go and spunk 100 million on a replacement for Kun

20.) 19 Jun 2021
19 Jun 2021 06:37:46
But people do understand that Man city and leicester have cash to spend on new players but we may not.
We may buy one more player without selling. but after that it will all be with sales.

We even added debt last year over jota and Thiago. and cannot continue same model each year.

So we are in no position to buy 30 or 40k squad players that city can.
And because they buy such good squad players they do fill in with quality when 1st choice are not playing.

We did try the approach with Keita and Ox. in midfield but it has not worked out.

Sean Origi doesn’t get minutes because he’s not trusted. If mo goes to the Olympics and Afcon along with Mane then he would unlikely get those minutes as well. A good competitive forward would. Plus it would mean Klopp would not have to flog Bobby, Mane and Salah to death playing every minute week in week out. Perhaps that’s been a big factor in Bobby and Mane’s drop off.

22.) 19 Jun 2021
19 Jun 2021 13:47:47
City had 4 senior attackers plus a couple kids and B. Silva who filled in the attacking line a couple times.

In terms of numbers, that isn't too far from us having our front 4 plus Origi and Shaq. Ox can play up there when needed etc and then we have Elliot coming back.

I think we overplay the value of depth, as if we need to have 6 starting quality attackers to rotate. It's just not sustainable. With 4 starting quality attackers already at the club and Elliot on the way back, the next forward coming in needs to be someone that will accept a rotational role. that is the bear bones of it.

20 Jun 2021 00:37:12
@JK23, totally agree that could be part of why Mane and Salah's form dropped off and I would also like to see them rested/ rotated a bit more. I don't think Klopp would rest them much though and I don't think either of them like to be rested so I don't see another Jota level as realistic as they won't be played enough (in my opinion) .

@The Irish Rover, yes Ake was signed for £40M as a squad player. Do you think Ake was signed with Pep expecting him to nail down a 1st team spot?

On Stones, yes he was £50M a few years ago and he was signed to start but by last summer he had fallen down the pecking order so 100% he would have been expected to be backup to Dias and Laporte when they were signing Dias last summer.
