Edds quick question what happened with Dean Saunders. Souness only gave him a brief time at club. Why was he turfed out so quickly?

{Ed001's Note - because he was crap and a complete bell.}

Thanks for quick reply. I thought he was a big fan and would of made the most of his chance.

{Ed001's Note - he was not even close to being good enough. I remember sitting right by the touchline for one game and just been aghast at how crap he actually was. He had a first touch that made Lukaku's look like Pele. Awful player who just ran around throwing his weight about.}

He was shocking. His second touch was a tackle and was a bang average finisher. Just no where near good enough. Mark Wright was signed at the same time I thought he was decent at least he always gave 100%. I remember him and Stuart Peace once going at it.

Never forget that awful assault he did on Paul Elliott that ended his career. That was a shocker. Literally went out to injure him. Was unrepentant and unapologetic. He should have been banned from all football for life for that.

I don't understand why Souness always went back in for him then if he rated him so poorly. Saunders was even his assistant when he was at Rovers and Newcastle.

I was a kid when he signed for us, remember being happy enough with the signing cos he'd been good for Derby. But looking back it was just a time at the club where players not good enough for our standards were being brought in year after year. The best players of that era. God, Macca and Redknapp either came through the academy or brought in as a kid.

Ed001 the worst thing about it was Souness bought him to replace Peter Beardsley. Awful footballer just had pace and that was it reminds me of watching kyle walker if they did not have that pace they would struggle to play Sunday league.

{Ed001's Note - he wasn't that quick when playing for us, he was defo carrying a few extra pounds slowing him down.}

Whilst we are talking about Kyle Walker I would like to nominate him as the king. of passing backwards, although Luke Shaw ran him pretty close in the first half last night.

{Ed025's Note - i suspect thats down to the coach rather than the player langland, shaw was excellent last night but walker was pretty poor positionally imo mate..
