On the heel of the news of Elliot signing a new contract, thought I might seek out views from Ed's and fellow Reds on here.

I did not follow his loan closely but the lil tidbits I watched of him last season, he was fairly good and consistent in his performances. He also comes across as a smart player who plays the game intelligently with a great temperament and does not rely too much on flashy skills. Even before his loan spell when I watched him in pre-season, one thing that stood out was him being unfazed by the occasion.
I also like how comfortable he is with both feet. With left being his dominant foot, he provides a good backup on the right side of the field (Salah's) position (cutting in), but he is fairly comfortable on his right foot too.

What is everyone's opinion, especially Ed1 who has a keen eye for such things and other posters who might have watched his loan spell closely? The little I have seen of him, even though he is not setting the world on fire, he certainly possesses all the qualities to become a mainstay in the Liverpool team.

{Ed001's Note - I think he has everything needed to star for us, it is up to him now.}

I'm surprised ed, you are not usually so unequivocal about a youngster. Elliot must be the real deal in your eyes!

{Ed001's Note - Elliott is a special talent, but he has to keep working hard and not think he has already made it.}

Lost his place in Blackburns team towards the end of the season but I'd put that down to the fact he was 17 and, it being his first full season playing in an ultra physical league. There's certainly a player in him and I hope that we as fans let him develop at his own pace. Don't put pressure on the kid and see where he can go.

I used to think Jordan I’ve would become a better player than Sterling 🤦🏻‍♂️ My apologies to all.

Do you think Elliott has more potential than Sancho Ed?

{Ed001's Note - yes. Potential is not actual though and he has to live up to it.}

This is how you know HE is a true baller: When you have rival Utd and Chelsea fans on SM channels raving about him. The kid is legit BUT as the Ed said, he needs to bide his time, work hard and not get too far ahead of himself. HE is the future and we are all in with him. Baby steps.

Longlivetheking about Jordan Ibe, no need to apologise regarding his ability. On a podcast he was in, he said Klopp literally signified his need to leave to get regular footie the moment Mane came thru the door. And it went downhill from there from non football related POV.

The kid suffered severe mental health/ depression issues. His split from his partner with whom he had a daughter was the last straw for him and it has been uphill ever since. I’m just happy he seems to be able to live a normal life now.

I have expectations of Elliot this season, the kid has said he expects a lot from himself. He is not in the squad just to make up the numbers, he is too good for that. Within 2 years I expect him to be a starter. This season I expect both Jones and Elliot to kick on.

If he can keep up his development we have a potentially very special player, he isn't prodigiously physical like Lukaku was or naturally rapid like Mbappe, yet his influence at blackburn was huge with his creativity . He was one of the best players in the championship in a mediocre team, he has a long way to go but this young fella might just turn out to be our next big thing but you never know.

The fact he is still only 18 is mad, it feels like he’s been around for ages. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders which, hopefully, bodes well for his development and future with us.

Lad at work says his mate works for some agency.
The lad at the agency says there is some data base with every registered player listed on there and it's mega detailed, so for example you could watch reels of footage on any particular player just making aerial challenges or just sprints etc

Apparently Harvey Elliot has better stats than mbappe and Messi at this stage in his career. Obviously that doesn't mean he is going to be as good as them as they could have a much higher ceiling but according to form his stats are huge across the board.

I don't know what this database is just passing on what I was told.

He seems to be saying and doing the right thing so far, hopefully can keep pushing himself!

I am sure Jimmy Milner has set up camp outside his bedroom so that he can crack the whip on any funny business!
