Match verdict.
Good workout, was well on top second half until we put a lot of young players on,
Big plus both VVD and Gomez getting minutes.
Im not worried about midfield with Curtis coming through, he looks sharp,
Ox looks sharp too and might be more of an option than you think if he can stay fit.
Mina did well, Salah and Mane both the usual, did well but lots of wasted positions.
Keita was bright, Robbo looked sharp as did Tsimikas.
Small mention to Kaide Gordon, 16 years old, fluffed his lines once or twice but to get in the positions he did up against an international defender was great to see.
Jovetic coming on for them for me was a brief cameo into what a real striker/ hitman gives you, one sniff and its in, no messing about, id love a Fowler/ Owen type in there as an option.
Best performance of pre season regardless of the result.
YNWA.

Did you actually watch the same game as me? Keita was awfull, lost the ball again and again, didn’t track back and took way too many touches. 2 or 3 times he could have played a quick ball to Arnold og Salah, but it seems he doesn’t see it, and that is the most worying thing. And he never threatens the goal, absolutely waste of space.
Worying for the defence out of position most of the game, actually a very poor game from Liverpool, also waisting so many options in front of goal.
Great seeing Gordon getting the chances, the bright spot on a bad day.

Played well, but conceded four fairly cheap goals. Worth noting that we used 10 defenders in the game though.

Tsimikas, Ox and Taku were probably the best players. Gordon also stood out too, the quality of his off the ball movement is up there with a senior pro.

On the hot topic player Naby Keita, I thought he did okay. Neither brilliant or awful.

Are you for real Red -JC? It’s all about match fitness at this stage and getting back into the swing of things.

Most I’ve spoken to said Naby had an ok game, nothing amazing or brilliant but certainly not awful or a waste of space.

Did you see the goals we conceded first half, I can’t believe Keita didn’t save either of those, disgraceful.

Thought Ox showed a lot of potential in the new role - interesting to see how that one develops - if he can stay fit and progress in the role he callus save us a fair bit of money.

Good to see Elliot and Jones (and the potential in Gordon) looking comfortable slotting in - only a pre-season but you play what’s in front of you.

Thought Kieta did ok - goes against the narrative but didn’t see too much to criticise him about.

I presume Divock, and the recently arrived Shaq are being kept in a glass cabinet to reduce the risk of serious injury and to be viewed by prospective buyers?

with Nabby are we now getting to the point of actual real impartial criticism or are we now in the realm that we are so fed up with what he has/ has not done over the last 3 years we only see the poor / negative things and totally ignore any good things done. I too am disappointed with his contribution so far since he joined, but maybe this season could see him flourish with 1 less competition for the middle of the park slot.

I personally think he has no real future with us, but if JK sees somethig we don't ( which we don't see training very day) then I will support him and try and see both the good and bad.

I would support Satan himself if he got us another Prem title/ champs league but that's my Red tinted side coming out lol.

You do know this was a pre-season workout Red-JC?
It's about getting players that step closer to match fitness and sharpness.
How about waiting for the season to actually start before slating players and the team off?
Just a thought likes.

Stevan Jovetic scored two against us again like he did twice for Fiorentina in the CL back in 09/ 10 lol.

They scored 4 pre season or not they did score 4. So that is early signs of worry for me. I remain adamant jurgens highline 4 3 3 is very hard for the defenders and has been found out. He needs to do away with the high line defense.
Also since we have 4 first team level centre backs 3 5 2 has to be tried. That formation just gives us better cushion and will suit us more with the kind of players we got.

{Ed0666's Note - you are kidding me right now saying that you’re worried we let in 4 goals in a pre season friendly? If you’re not than I’m worried that you’re worried.

Nope my worry is not conceding 4 my concern is the system. In this klopp system the ball takes a lot if touches b4 it reaches our attackers which deflates our attacks. See alp our goal fast one touch attack. Because we play highline we always pass a lot around in the midfield and one wrong pass we get caught.
It was evident last season, just too many passes b4 it reaches salah, mane, bobby and by then the teams regain shape.
I know it won us the title but that was 2019 its 2021 now and it needs a little tweaking.

{Ed001's Note - you are talking nonsense. Klopp's system is to get it forward quickly to the attackers. Why make up stuff about the highline being why we pass it around in midfield? It is not even slightly true. The reason it gets passed around in midfield is because there is no option to get it forward. The whole point of having a player like Fabinho in that deep role is because of his ability to pick out the forward pass from deep.

We can't play the quick forward ball because teams sit in against us and rarely leave space to play a quick ball forward to Salah or Mane. When it is on, we play it as that is what Klopp's system demands. That is why we look so much more dangerous once we go ahead, as then teams have to come out and leave gaps behind for those forward passes.}

All this because we lost a pre-season kickabout?
What kind of meltdown happens if we lose a game early in the season?

I was wondering the same Flash - God forbid we don’t score a hatful against Norwich.

Naa mate you digress from the obvious point that teams have found us out and they will continue to just sit back and defend us out of the game. Bottom 10 will never come out to attack us. But they can clinch a point or 3 against us if they hold formation sit tight and wait for a mistake which will happen. And then at the back we get caught because we are pressing too far high up the pitch
We pass too much and too often in the defense and midfield and it stifles the attack. Both salah and mane are dribblers and don't like their back to the goal.
When it worked it won us the league but teams have worked it out. We do well when teams come to play football. We won't do well if they just put in a shift to defend and let us pass and klopp needs to tweak it out to counter that.

Three years ago we finished second and won the Champions League. Two years ago we won the EPL. Last year we finished 3rd, with severe disruptions due to injuries and the c. v. With pretty much the same system and tactics we are playing with today.

What's all this infantile mumbling about "being found out" for, and even that after a meaningless preseason game? A game where our starting midfield is still enjoying their holiday? It's the freaking job of 19 other EPL managers to "find us out", otherwise they are not worth the salaries they are paid. And it's Klopp's job to win the games even if he and all the players and tactics are found out.

Pseudo-intellectual mumbo-jumbo, at its finest.

{Ed0666's Note - it’s not even Pseudo Intellectuality mate. It’s about 13 rungs below that. Waste of everyone’s time to validate it.
