I know there’s a good few weeks left in the transfer market but am starting to get really Impatient with not signing a gini replacement. We’ve known that he was leaving months and months ago. We have a bit of cash now from sales so let’s go get a player!

We signed Thiago last summer to be fair. You could argue he was a Lallana replacement but then who did Jones replace? Then we have Elliott coming in this season (probably to replace Shaqiri) and he's playing centre mid this season from the looks of pre-season and the official website interviews.

For me, it's not sensible to keep adding players to the midfield roster before we sell/ loan some out. Hendo, Thiago, Fabinho, Milner, Jones, Elliott and Ox are going nowhere. So we have about 7-11 midfielders, depending on the immediate futures of Keita, Shaqiri, Cain and Clarkson. I think Keita will stay due to lack of suitors personally.

We will play a maximum of 3 at a time, and probably only 2 in a lot of more games than previous seasons, so we can get Jota into the team in a 4-2-3-1.

For me, there is no need to be nervous mate. We are over stocked in midfield as it stands and i'm sure if we can whittle it down to about 7, we will add another player. Unless you are stressed about the quality or variability of our existing options, which is entirely subjective and you are absolutely entitled to your opinion on. From a pure numbers perspective, we're well covered and i am a big believer in trusting in the youth. I understand others will be less trusting though.

I suppose a good way to look at the squad is to see which 2 Elevens you could possibly play which no double ups of players. Best eleven

That still leaves out the likes of Phillips, Taki and any youth players and assumes Shaqiri and Origi are gone.

Not a bad second eleven at all, in an ideal world if a few players were to leave such a Taki, origi and Shaq then a versatile forward could be added, and double ideal world Keita could go an get his career back on track with another club and we could sign another midfielder, leaving Elliott to fill in both a forward and midfield role.

A midfield trio of Jones, Milner, Keita and Adrian in goal is like giving the opposition a 4 goal head start. Beyond our starting three the midfield options are not good.

it's not common to see 11 players changed, but that eleven would get you though rounds of the cup against championship sides and below, and possibly weaker premier league competition, and can be played in dead rubbers of course. Otherwise you are very unlikely to see that Eleven players all play together.

In that second eleven you have 2 40 million players and a 60 million player, 2 league and European cup winning centre backs, a champions league level left back, Milner the most experienced player at the club and 2 brilliant young prospects who the more players you buy the less chance they get. Young players only thrive when you give e them a chance

Otherwise you will just see a few swapped in here and there, as I said another midfielder would be nice and a versatile forward but there are already 3 High earners who don't even make it into either 11, before any other players can be brought they need to be gone, otherwise money is being chucked away and of course squads slots taken up.

Thunderbird 2 are you Jones’ mum or dad? I don’t think the player is good enough. I don’t think he scores enough and I don’t think he’s forward thinking enough. If the Euro’s has proved one thing, it shows he’s behind other players of a similar age. Do I think he’s terrible? No, he’s neat and tidy in possession and has an elegance on the ball. I ll use squad rotation as I'm selling nobody.

The model is soley built on shirt sales. When the other players aren't playing, they are going around with trolleys selling shirts on match days.

To be honest, my only real concern about the whole arrangement is longthing. I mean if that username means what I think it does, he doesn't sound like who plays second fiddle and I want to be main man.

Thunderbird is spot on.

Kelleher, Jones, N. Williams, R. Williams and Elliott have all shown enough to deserve our backing. We can't afford to keep buying in 2 players for every position because the UCL club developed squad rule means that we need to bring through our own youngsters or face a reduced squad size in Europe.

We have to trust our academy to produce good players. Neco is probably the weakest of the current crop but as far as reserve right backs go, he's hardly terrible!

The stick Jones is taking because he's not got a fancy name and didn't cost mega bucks, is astonishing. If we were signing him from another club it would cost minimum £30m. People would probably be happy then!

@IPC12, you are constantly moaning and your reading of our players and what we need is way off.

Jones has been very good and looks like he will be an excellent option for us. I'm excited to see him continue playing and improving with us.

It’s way way too early to make a judgment call on Jones. He has very good potential, upto him to show it on the pitch.
