So if yesterday was anything to go by. Norwich away ain't going to be a walk in park.
We got to be ready and up for it. To early season strolls, intensity has to be 100% as soon as the whistle blows.
Good luck and best wishes for the boys and coach. Fingers crossed and let's have 3 points on the board today.
YNWA.

I think will smash Norwich, our record is too good against them and the likes of Salah, Mane like playing against them. We would never have got better opening game then Norwich tbh.

Playing with that intensity, mindset and support, Brentford will give anyone a game at theirs. Including Liverpool.
And I’m not convinced that our midfield could match that, especially if we had say Henderson out.
Who’d be up for a battle then?
Keita, broken toe nail, forget it.
Fabinho would, but not the quickest and can be got at.
Thiago would, but even less mobile and would end up getting booked and subbed off.
Jones would have a go but still a youngster and not really his forte.
Keep Elliott away from games like that at this point imo.
Ox, terrible injury record.
That’s my take on it anyway, rather pessimistic I know, lol.

Could have got arsenal.

You should respect every team. Be confident enough that you will win but not arrogant enough to think it will be a walk in the park.

That’s a very negative post Juicer! Pint half empty today is it mate. Come on we haven’t even kicked a ball yet and your saying we are going to get battered by Brentford. We mite as well not bother!

I agree to a certain extent Juicer. We are losing some of our mobility in midfield. The OX though is flying atm so hopefully he will have an impact this season. We have enough bodies if only we can keep them at decent fitness for when we need them. I think we need one extra and if Sanchez is who we can afford then he will do for me.

Juicer - are you just listing our midfielder’s negatives? Of course any team on their day can cause problems. However on our day our strongest midfield would destroy them.

Christ any swear we are a 2 man team. Our midfield are crap without Hendo, plus Mo and Sadio apparently couldn't hit a barn door unless Bobby is on the pitch if it’s to be believed. We have quality throughout the team and if the majority play to their ability more often than not we will be in for a good season.

Irish Rover it's not abt being arrogant it's just confidence having tormented them since Suarez was here. That hasn't changed with Salah and Mane. We have scored bundles and bundles of goals against them in short space of time where the Sky even had sympathy for them and advocating they should put 10 players behind the ball against us lol that's how we've tormented them in recent years.

I am being negative, yes, and I didn’t add Milner to that above list. Wish he were 6 years younger though lol.
I think what last night demonstrated again, and this has always been a truism in English football, is that you have to match or best your opponents’ work rate and intensity.
Back in the day that partly meant having a midfield enforcer, today it’s more about athleticism.
It’s ok trying to slow a game down but if an opponent’s mindset is as positive and aggressive as Brentford’s was, you have to out work them.
I just feel that we’ve dropped off from where we were two seasons ago, that’s all.
Gini’s departure, coupled with Thiago’s arrival, has fundamentally altered our midfield.

Juicer last season and seasons gone by we have struggled (sometimes slightly, sometimes a lot) against teams who have put 11 men behind the ball and just tried hitting us on the break. I think Brentford’s style will most certainly give us a game but I would back us in a straight shoot out against anyone. Exact same when we play City except they have far more quality to punish us. But we have punished them just as much over the last few seasons in head to heads.

Scored tons and tons of goals years ago against them. Last time there it was a lucky enough 1-0 win courtesy of Sadio. I'd take that today to be honest. Points over performance for me.

The one maxim that has never changed in football and never will - win the physical battle for the right to impose your own football. It doesn't mean play dirty, it means stand up to the rough stuff that's dished out to you and dish some back out.
Anyone who thinks Norwich should be a walk in the park could be in for a rude awakening. There is no other team (apart from Palace maybe) who would love to burst our bubble on the opening day of the season after their torment at our hands in recent seasons (notable mention for Suarez here! ) .

You should expect that type of game from any team away from home so not sure why anyone is surprised. Btw, Arsenal are a shambles and I was not surprised they lost. They have prolly the worst record vs bottom teams away from home in the league over the last several years so the comparison is irrelevant.

As for Norwich, if we show up and play with respect, determination, intensity and up to our ability, we will have too much for them, IMO.
