Good luck to Clarkson and Davies, Clarkson could be a solid player I feel.

Interested to see what we do at CB now, think we'll still sell Phillips and have 5 CBs of VVD, matip, Gomez, konate, Rhys? Under normal circumstances that should be plenty!

Rhys needs a loan. Then keep Philips. In few years time, vvd and matip may need to be moved on. So, we still be ok with cb who knows the team and the system we play.

Phillips is going to be delighted waiting around for a few years to get a game. But wait, then there's Gomez and Konate to get by. Just let the bloke leave and play somewhere else.

Spot on, JH. If Phillips is that low in the pecking order as in 5th out of 6 CB’s and there are clubs interested in him and he has a chance to be first choice at these clubs, why in da heck would he want to hang around here? Why should the club keep him? Just to keep fans happy and all that?

The club is there to not just manage players BUT their careers as well. If Phillips will not get games then, the club has a duty to be honest with him and let him decide his own future and not stand in his way. Asking the Club to keep him just cos he did well for us last season (whereas he wasn’t even supposed to even be here had he been sold, as planned) is not helping him either, IMO.
