According to Martin lipton, Premier league clubs have agreed to defy fifa and play their "banned" players this weekend. About time clubs stood up to these corrupt money grabbing vultures. To invoke this rule is abs horrendous and shows they couldn't care less about player welfare.

I wish our whole team would take a leaf out of Joel Matip's book and bin the boring and tedious International nonsense.

With respect, MK, there aren't many people on this site who've represented their country at international level. Having spoken to a few footballers over years, they consider it to be the pinacle of their careers. Me personally, I have very little interest but, like I say, I never played at the highest level.

It was tongue in cheek, Rome. But like you i couldn't care less about England. In internationals i just hope no Liverpool players get injured or lose confidence playing under half wit managers.

Think it’s sad that people on here aren’t patriotic, I would support my country if they was playing tiddlywinks tbh. I served in the armed forces along side many Scousers and their passion for their country was equal to their love for their city.

Problem is, 6 gold stars, they are just too boring to watch. If they played attractive football they'd get a little more support but they don't, they bore people half to death.

Agreed to a point Salah (see Wales v Estonia) . However not all internationals are snooze fests. The Euros had some cracking games. I think it’s the in thing at the moment to look down on internationals. Granted they’re not for everyone- I’m not a massive fan myself- but other fans and players are passionate so let them have it. Who doesn’t enjoy a World Cup neither?!

Ask any athlete and he/ she will tell you that it's an honour to represent your country on the international stage. If some watchers don't derive any pleasure from it or see the benefit of it, then it's just a matter of personal preference. I doubt the athletes care much. I don't think it's just a matter about "patriotism" for the watchers or non-watchers. I think it's just an issue of personal preference (patriotism gets aroused eventually; depending on how hard you get pushed - again my opinion) .
