Take the result but we were nothing short of pathetic in that second half extra man my a##e. I don't think I have ever witnessed us giving the ball away so much in my life we just couldn't put 2 passes together panicked and just kicked the ball anywhere, giving it straight back to Athletico, the back 4 were extremely poor robbo and espically TAA were brutal at times very poor performance all round got the rub of the green what Jota is thinking is beyond me but we got away with it in all fairness 9 pts from 3 games got to be happy but if we perform like that on Sunday against Utd well then there will be only one result. I thought they were there for the taking this weekend not after watching us in that match surly we won't play as bad again on Sunday 🤞.

We were far far worse in a lot of games last season mate. We were below par but we will take the win and move onto an even bigger game on Sunday.

Robbo is just not doing it. Might be no harm to let Kostas have a run.

It's almost as if we were playing an excellent team at one of the hardest away venues in Europe. That was Atletico's first European home defeat in 4 years!
Sometimes you just need to grind out a result, you can't play fantastic every game. Anyone who knows anything about football knows that.

They have lost once in 50 odd games at home. We weren’t great but an amazing result.

Off course we did just go to one of the toughest, awkward, cantankerous teams and managers in world football and beat them in their own back yard but yeah I see what you mean 🤣🤣.

Alright markp08 mate I know we had some terrible games last season losing 6 home games in a row but I don't think we were ever playing against 10 men in those matches it looked like we were the team down to 10 in that 2nd half.

By m6 reckoning that’s 21 games unbeaten in all competitions.

3 out of 3 wins in the CL ‘group of death’ and beating the Spanish Champions who, going into the match had lost only one of their last 40 games at home. I think you need a bit of perspective Zippy.

Once again, as a fan, I thought it was great to watch - exciting, controversial, great attacking, dodgy defending and we won again. If you can’t enjoy or be entertained by games like that then you really are watching the wrong sport.

Bring on United. Like I said, I hope their back four are all fit. I’m not fussed about this getting rid of Ole - whoever they bring in will take at least a couple of years to put a team together. It will be a while before either Ronaldo decides he’s had enough it the Glazer’s figure their pandering to the fans was another waste of money and get rid. Anyway, that’s their problem. Bring on the next match

Come on you Redmen.

I don't think anything you posted there is untrue Zippy.

You are allowed to point out we didn't play well lads when we didn't play well 🤣.

We'll take the win and move on.

Our penalty was a correct decision all day long and twice on Sundays. There's wasn't, but their cause wasn't helped by throwing themselves on the turf every time there was physical contact and acting like they'd had a limb amputated.
I've no doubt the ref bore that in mind while he watched the VAR review of that penalty appeal, just how easy and theatrical the fall was from the slightest accidental contact.
And get it right up ye Suarez, he suits them perfectly.
Now to slap the mancs.

That was a hard game against one of the toughest teams in Europe who rarely lose at home and we won it. Winning games like that is character building. Make no mistake about it, that will boost the lads going into the weekend. As the Atletico stadium is a very hostile place to go to compared to the prawn sandwich brigade.

Personally I thought we played well overall against a very tough side, if you’d have offered me a draw before hand I’d have taken that as a good result. As much as it was nerve shredding it was also an utterly compelling game of football. And two wonder goals from us too.

Might be worth remembering that we last played on Saturday while athletico had there weekend game postponed giving them a full week to prepare for our arrival, not delighted about our performance but this is a good albeit dirty competitive team who are la liga champions so we take the result and move on.

{Ed0666's Note - great point mate

The problem with rating performances is that folks get used to seeing us do things like swat Watford 5-0. Then when we don't produce that scintilating brand of tooball again then all of a sudden we're awful.
AM are the Spanish champions for a reason, and we just beat them in their own back yard (which doesn't happen often), with them playing comparitively well.
Yet apparently we were poor, despite having something like 66% possession.
Go figure.

It all depends what measurement you use when deciding if players, or the team, play well or not.

We were deemed to be unbeatable when we beat Watford but didn’t really account for Watford being a team woefully out of their depth.

We are now deemed as terrible because we conceded two goals against the Spanish Champions at their home ground where they are very happy to rake on any and all.

Games aren’t arranged for Liverpool to just turn up and win. Imagining that we would turn up, stroll to a 3 or 4 - 0 win and carry on our perfect way shows a lack of respect for, and knowledge of, the opposition and the game in general.

Our players are human, they are not perfect and they make mistakes from time to time (unlike me and a few other posters) . A lot of it is about being able to cope under pressure, which as a team, we did. We weren’t poor because we lack skills, technique or temperament as a group we made mistakes because we were playing against one of the toughest teams we will meet this season who put us under pressure.

There is nothing wrong with criticism and putting forward an opinion that player (s) didn’t play well but it should be supported by some sort of evidence as to why the criticism is levelled …. X is dirt is just pathetic.

Can't see klopp dropping Robbo although been saying for a while tmikas should be playing. What's he got to do to get a game.

{Ed0666's Note - I think there will be around 4 changes for Sunday

Man U will target our right side but I can’t see Klopp changing the defence now. I said yesterday Gomez should be playing. Fabs will play midfield but I can’t see him changing much else. A midfield of Fabs, Hendo and Milner isn’t good enough but we don’t have options. Firmino can’t string 2 decent performances together it’s been like that for a very long time.

“A midfield of Fabs, Hendo and Milner isn’t good enough”….
“Firmino can’t string 2 decent performances together” ….

What are you talking about? Seriously, are you actually a Liverpool fan?

I’d say a midfield of Fabinho, Henderson and Milner is better than (checks notes), McTominay, Matic and Fred.
