Just read that African players will need to be with their respective teams 2 weeks before the tournament starts (9th Jan), meaning we could miss Salah and mane for up to 8 games. Is this a new rule change? As I recall previously that we've held on to the players until the week of the tournament.

Ed01, do you imagine that the actual release date for these players will be negotiated to a later date?

Thanks Ed. Frustrating to have to lose them for so many games if that happens. Time for origi to further enhance his legacy with us in jan!

Life goes on an all that but 8 games without Mane and more specifically Salah will derail our season. We are not blessed with a high scoring midfield as it is so it’s a major worry where the goals will come from.

Ed0666 I think it could massively dent our league hopes but obviously wouldn’t effect the CL.
Best case we still get the league wins out of the 5-6 league games they miss but we can’t deny missing them pair does weaken us immensely.

Actually hate international football. I’d give up the excitement and interest every 4 years (soon to be 2) for the World Cup. If it meant my club players were available for the wages we pay them.

I’ve worked it out as Brentford, Palace, Leicester and possibly Burnley in the league as well as scheduled cup games.

They don't have to go do they? There's nothing set in stone saying they're going yet so I wouldn't worry too much, yet. If I'm Salah I'd be wanting to continue the great form and finish the season the best I can, same goes for Mane but it's upto them.

If they go then we will continue to succeed, they are vital to our success but they aren't everything, they are two players in a team full of fantastic players. At one point we relied on the odd one or two players, we no longer have to do that. Am I confident without them? Absolutely! I know our team can pull together and make miracles happen when needed. What will be, will be. Appreciate the rest of the squad, we're very lucky to have such an incredible set of players.

{Ed025's Note - if you dont think you would miss them salah then you are kidding yourself mate, mo is half your team and without him liverpool will struggle and will make the team become no better than the others around you..

Vvvv the article I read says they would leave after the Boxing Day match (Leeds) so that means they would miss Leicester, Chelsea, Brentford, Palace and potentially the 2nd game against Leicester. Plus the fa cup game and not sure if any league cup happens In Jan if we are still in it.

Tournament starting on the 9th so 2 weeks before that takes them from the 26th of December. It'll be tough.

Definite loss but let's not act as if Salah is doing a suarez and dragging up an average team. If that was the case then where exactly was salah when we went through our barren run last season? Please don't misconstrue, he is our best player and we are better with him, but I would also say that the strength of the team brings out his best qualities.

All I'm saying is, I believe in the squad we currently have, you can't deny that we have a full team of quality players, as good as Salah? Of course not but they are good enough to succeed. One player does not make a team.

Again, Salah will clearly be missed if he were to go, he's the best player in the world at the moment but we have a team of quality players. Agreed 25, the money nowadays is mental as we know. I'm against it but we can't change it. If Salah is demanding X amount, try it on but not too much, eventually to keep a player like that we're going to have to give him what he wants. Have a good day mate.
