Lovely bit of footwork by Mo - quoted as saying he wants to finish his career at Liverpool.

Over to you board ….

I’m old and perhaps too cynical but can anybody else see the headlines when he signs for Real Madrid? “It wasn’t me, I never wanted to leave” …….

Exactly matey I was thinking the same thing salah (agent) will ask for a certain amount, the club will nearly have a heart attack and stutter, he meanwhile will say I want too stay for the rest of my career the fans are in heaven " we want mo " while our mo knows for a fact we ain't paying silly wages cos we tight as a budgies asscrack.

{Ed0666's Note - or a ladybirds fart.

Ed do you think he will sign? , do u think he has played a blinder? He has covered his ass big time saying he wants too stay, but we all know this comes down too what other clubs will and might of offered him and its a case of us matching crazy wages . Further still as ed 02 has pointed out numerous times down the years salah an his advisor have been actively hawking his services but been laughed at, if that's the case imagine how our owners will act .

{Ed001's Note - no idea sorry.}

Haha I didn't take as cynical a view. Don't tend to make too much of these media takes, either way.

Salah wants to be paid similar to players in the league he’s better than. Klopp wants to keep him. Remember he said he wants us to become a ‘destination club’ for players and not a stepping stone, if the owners allow our best player to leave for the 4th or 5th time then I think we’ve accepted we’ll never be one of the elite clubs under them. Im fairly neutral on them as of now but if Salah isn’t kept i’ll want them gone and i’m sure there’ll be many others who turn.

No need to over analyse this one. He wants to stay and if he gets close to what he wants, he will.

Maybe, just maybe, Mo doesn't want to stay. When he came back to the Premier league he said "he wanted to prove he could do it here". Well he's proven he can and then some. I wouldn't read too much into words or even a new signed contract. This smacks of Suarez all over again.

He's been a great servant for the club. And I mean GREAT. He's played a huge part in us winning the League after a 30 year wait and a sixth European Cup.
If he wants to go, wish him well. I'm almost sure he's given us his best years anyway.

The only reason this isn't the same as suarez situation is because liverpool and Barcelona are is opposing positions. Liverpool win things. Big things. We are a top team again and not just because of salah. He knows we are no longer a stepping stone team but a team challenging season after season. He can win balon d or with us which is what he wants and our profile is building too.

Maybe the bloke just wants to stay! Maybe there is no conspiracy to theorise about. Maybe the money men at the club should just get this done sharpish, it has to be better sponsorship and merchandise-wise to have the best and most recognisable footballers at your club.

I don’t believe the allure of the two Spanish clubs is there anymore. They used to pay the best and win the most so it was a no brainer. Nowadays they pay well but aren’t guaranteed to win anything. For some players winning matters and I believe salah is one of them.

The last thing we should allow to happen is for Mo to be viewed as the villain or as greedy. He wants the going rate for a player of his level. Would you accept less at work just so your wealthier boss can save money? We can’t run the we make superstars not buy them line then not pay up when they become superstars. If a single player in that dressing room had a problem with Salah’s wages (they won’t) I’d rather get rid of them and keep Mo than the other way around wether it’s Origi or Minamino or van Dijk or Alisson. Nothing stops any member of the squad from earning the same kind of money as him if they can get to his level.

He wants to stay. We want to keep him. Get it done. The End.
