A tad concerned this years midfield could be last years centre backs. Dropping like flies. Anyone know when Fab back? I'd imagine Milner, Keita, Thiago and of course Elliot out for a min few weeks.

Hopefully ox and Curtis can take their chance. Possibly Morton to step up?

Apparently Keita isn't serious and should be back this weekend.

Keita - injury has been described as not being serious, I would assume he will be fine.

Milner - no word

Fabinho - small knock from the Atleti game (should be back very soon)

Thiago - Klopp said he could be back before the international break and definitely after (seen running etc and training so probably back soon) .

Harvey - I would assume out for the season?

So yeah quite a few injuries but I believe the majority will be returning to fitness shortly.

Henderson is fit and in good form, Keita has stepped up and should be back this weekend (fingers crossed), Fabinho was only a minor issue, Harvey should be back soon, Ox is fit and ready and Curtis is making good progress, Milner shouldn’t be out too long. I’d like us to have signed another midfielder who can play 6 or 8 but we’re not in the mess we were last season.

Fab had a bruised knee should be back for the weekend, naby didn’t leave on crutches and was walking about which is good so hopefully it’s just impact bruising, word about is thiago is back running so hopefully next week.

I don't think Harvey is out for the season, more like the calendar year.

If that the case, OP, at least we now have plenty of defenders who can fill in in midfield 😉.

Zed, don’t say that, I reckon Matip would be an excellent defensive midfielder!

Nah, VVVV, we should play VVD as a holding midfielder and Konate as a right winger and then backfill in defence. That seems like the right thing to do, right?

I’m pretty sure we’re averaging an injury a game at the minute. The only difference is last season they were massive injuries and out for the season stuff.
I’d be getting a midfielder in January, even if it’s a loan Kabak style for that extra security. Just because Elliot was such a huge blow.

Pepjin has confirmed:

Keita - has bruising but will be available for the weekend.

Fabinho - in contention for the weekend.

Thiago - back in full training next week (Brighton is too soon)

Milner - hamstring injury, out until after the IN break.

Harvey - early 2022 is what's being said.

Bobby is the best defensive centre forward in the world. Perhaps he might be the best defensive centre half in the world as well if we move some defenders into midfield. After all he can't be worse than Maguire.

OP, I was thinking the very same thing BUT I think we will be okay based on the comments of the other lads on this thread. As for Matip, don't be surprised. He made it in Schalke as a DM before he was moved into CB with then capt. Benedikt Howedes. In fact, don't be surprised if he plays CF as he got recruited at Schalke as a youngster as a striker, I read somewhere.

One of the lb’s can probably fill in. It’s only October but as long as we can keep enough bodies to rotate we will be fine. We have known for a long time Milner can’t play 3 games in a week. Jota or Firmino could fill in if needs must. I have everything crossed that Hendo stays fit, the best thing that happened was Hendo losing his England place.

@Jk23, my grandma is a better centre half than Maguire and she’s been dead for nearly 30 years.

I don’t care how much the press (and Southgate) rave on about Shaw and Maguire. Their highlights reel should consist of them running into each other whilst trying to “defend”, for want of a better phrase, on Sunday and then them standing there looking at each other with both of them thinking’You got in my way’ 😁😁😁 U-8’s stuff (and apologies to all those U-8’s who know they could do better)

{Ed014's Note - whilst Shaw has made a marginal improvement in his attacking he and Maguire like all of United’s defenders are pretty average.

Not even convinced with Varane and never have been.

Maguire has always been crap since his Hull days if you watch him closely. He did good at Leicester cos he played in a defensive system with Ndidi and Mendy in front of him under Claude Puel who is known for deploying nullification tactics. I was never sold on him and when he went to Utd, I knew they were screwed. He is pants and is actually getting worse. Shaw? He did improve last season BUT he is now back to being the poor defender he has always been. The guy is a poor defender one v one, lacks positional awareness, goes walkabout hence, collided with Maguire who goes walkabout too. Keystone Cops if ever you have seen any.

Me either Ed, there’s a touch of the Emperor’s New Clothes about Varane.

I honestly don’t rate any of their defence. I always see Shaw as a below average winger rather than a fullback. They aren’t helped much by the two defensive midfielders they played on Sunday - not unless you like defensive midfielders who look panic stricken whenever the ball came into their half.

I get that Ole is tactically inept, but I don’t know why he isn’t called out for the amount of money he has wasted on has been and never-gonna-be’s.

{Ed014's Note - absolutely mate, one of the United lads was telling me he was world class and mostly based on the amount of medals he had!🤦‍♂️

My thoughts are United have pretty much paid double the value of the vast majority of players they’ve bought and boy have the bought badly.

Add to that Ole has not improved a single one of them!
