Just a question for the lads

Is it success that has driven some of our fan base to being pessimistic about every new player that comes in? Or every decision that's made within the club

Litterally yet to see a player that's linked with us that hasn't been put down by a different section each time.

If people want to put down any links just quickly have a think to the days of us think in Milan jovanovic was going to get our club back on track lol the clubs come a long way and yes we maybe would want the owners to open their pockets but the reality is they won't and klopps done a class job so far without them doing so.

I personally just think it is a sign of the times. Everyone these days is an armchair expert because of the vast amount of information available these day. When we did sign the likes of Jovanovic, all we had to go on was a couple of journalists opinions and some goals per game stats. Nowadays, with all the podcasts, ex-players and data/ stats readily available, people feel they know a player before he's even kicked a ball. I miss the old days.

The team is aging to its absolute core and there is no sign of any major rebuild anywhere to be seen. We might lose one of our most prolific goal scorers when we should have had a young salah waiting in the wings already. We have had no money from years now.
We are building debt, We are borrowing money. We can't sell players. our squad is aging. we have partially or completely sold out future incomes.
not being pessimistic but what positive are you finding here?

I would say much of the feeling stems from the fact that Klopp and the club have had to make near perfect decisions to finally win the big trophies and level the playing field (on the pitch) with Guardiola's City.

Now that Klopp is into his final period with us and the longer it goes with little happening with regards to the rebuild, the more nervous the fanbase will get.

Going into 20/ 21 with 3 CBs (2 with poor injury records) was a red flag. The cut got deeper by not bothering to correct it in January 21 which saw the season completely slip away. Then by going into 21/ 22 not adding a more robust midfielder felt like history repeating itself.

I will contradict all of that with a wild claim that had we signed Bissouma (or someone of his ilk) in the summer we'd be top of the league with an almost perfect season to date. Fine margins eh! :)

Bring on the quadruple! Kidding. Not kidding. Kidding.

Transition time what do you mean the team is ageing to the core exactly? Lol we have milner who is a rock yes he's old but other than that the majority are still under 30? Most players best years are between 27 to 32 so I don't get that argument at all pal sorry. Changes need to and will be made but what do you want us to sign another 5 naby keitas and **** ourselves up then become arsenal and have to throw youngsters in for the sake of it?

Things aren't really as bad as the picture you paint but that's your opinion I'm not here to change that just want to understand the whys behind your thinking.

Put things into perspective here we are still in 4 competitions so our squad can't be that bad can it?

FPF fully get that but tbh mate it seems that no matter who we are interested in that the fans will have a target on their backs before they kick a ball. Some of our fanbase has became very toxic. Even if our owners wanted to we couldn't compete with city yet here we are competing with them. Teams never stay at the top forever so let's enjoy the ride.

The search for perfection is futile.
I'm enjoying Klopp's imperfections though.

Spot on @ Transition, @FlyPelican, We should of added a couple of top quality each season and especially this season, i'm with you that we would of been top of the league had we gone big, i think the owners saw City not getting a forward and wrote off any signings, won't be long before they sell up and go i hope.

27 Jan 2022 12:42:48
If we had signed an attacker and a midfielder in the summer we would be top of the league by an absolute margin. We simply did not and that is what is being questioned here.

Second in the league, won all six of our Champions League games, through to a cup final. All of this crying and stamping of feet because our squad isn’t perfect is a little immature and embarrassing.

27 Jan 2022 14:42:44
Its the usual harry syndrome. If City had signed Kane harry would be gagging on their page as we speak. In that case would we be leading by absolute margin? How much is absolute btw.

I don't know if its just me but the last year or two from a bunch of Liverpool fans is a sense of entitlement or just pure expectation to sign top players every window win everything win every game and if it doesn't happen its a complete disappointment and we are in meltdown the 0-0 with Arsenal the other week was mental. as Thunderbird said yes were behind in the league but the team will push but we are red hot in the champions league, into a final for a cup and into the next round for another cup. doesn't feel like a fading squad to me. yes the squad needs a bit of refresh but January is not the time to do that.

13.) 27 Jan 2022
27 Jan 2022 15:22:30
To me it feels more like a self entitlement from some fans that others aren’t allowed an opinion that differs to theirs 🤷🏻‍♂️.

27 Jan 2022 15:23:05
Who's crying and stamping their feet Thunder? Because some aren't happy with the investment in the squad their opinion is worth less than others who still think we are living in 2010? United had over a decade of constant success, not sporadic success but constant because they made signings, every summer, freshening up, it's not rocket science to know that someone new and adding competition kicks players on, we're doing well but every game, season, window we have to improve, sure there's some German guy that says it after nearly every match.

Lancaster, I also seem to remember United giving lots of opportunities to young players, the likes of Giggs, Beckham, Sharpe, Butt, Scholes, Neville, Brown, Fletcher, O'Shea. I would rather Liverpool add one or two quality players each summer, the likes of Jota, Thiago and Konate and give a chance to players like Elliott, Jones, Morton and Gordon. Like I said earlier, we could still win 4 trophies this season, I don't know about you but that sounds pretty successful to me.

If it wasn't for MCFC our recent seasons would be 1st/ 1st/ 2nd and in the lead this season, not bad against 3 of the riches clubs in world football.

{Ed0666's Note - imagine what the league positions would be without klopp????

A lot of posters upset themselves buy developing a hard on for certain players. They are so convinced that he is the right fit that they never consider the fact that Klopp maybe doesn't want them, even if he acknowledges that they are a good player.
Many others simply choose to ignore the fact that C.V. put a big dent in our finances, and think that FSG should throw money round like confetti to make up for it. And a few just make it up as they go along - "we've been promised big transfers" that nobody else ever heard.
Like a night out n Amsterdam, transfer windows bring them out of the woodwork.

Thunder bird, I’ll have I bet with you now win don’t win 4 trophies, I’ll go as far as saying we won’t win 2.

Ed066 Klopp is the glue that’s held us together and the driving force.

City’s signing of Jack Grealish last summer took Guardiola’s spending to the brink of the £1bn mark, to £963.3m and a net spend of £580.1m when player sales are added to the financial mix.
Klopp has spent £512.1m in the transfer market, shrinking to a net spend of £151.7mi when player sales are added.
So Liverpool have been operating with an annual net spend in the transfer market of around £25m during Klopp’s tenure, with Guardiola’s annual net spend almost four times that figure at £96.6m.

Its true the squad is aging but *uck me there's a lot of football left in the lads yet. salahs fitness and ability in my eyes sees him at the top of most scoring charts for another four years. most of the lads aren't even 30 yet.
Not for one second do I believe klopp would leave us in the *hit before he departs, be happy and grateful for the best time in 30-40 years 😁.

A lot of people forget we have a great crop of young players at the club.

Elliot is still to return, we also have Jones both of whom are progressing the more they play. van Den Berg at Preston is having a very good season as well. Players such Gomez, Konate and Tsimikas are all still young as well. Looking further back we also have Morton, Musilewski, Beck, Bradley etc. I would say it’s doom and gloom plus there will no doubt be signings this summer (Carvallho hopefully one) .

That should say “wouldn’t say it was doom and gloom”.

Jones Red I'm with you here, if we sign an expensive midfielder does Curtis Jones get a game? Does klopp change the style of the team for elliot to get a game? I highly doubt it. People want to sign top players that score goals but do we not have the 2 highest scorers in the Premier league? Lol I'm just confused by it all I feel fifa 22 fever has set in lol.
