I have heard carvalho of fulham next, but if we somehow brought in a trustworthy midfielder who can cover fabihno in the bissouma, kessie mould its kleenex time.

Damn right though.

I wonder where sadio fits into all this?

Hopefully pushing each other for a starting place. Great competition in time for the run in.

A lot of fans seem to believe that Mane will be the fall guy in all of this but for the life of me I cannot see why he is seen as that over Bobby.

Just comparing them over the last few seasons Mane has 48 goals and 22 assists and Bobby has 28 goals and 26 assists.

I’d love to keep both but for me even the most ardent Bobby fan surely would have to admit if one was to go then it’s him.

For me the defence Bobby gets is he creates space and Mane and Salah would score less without him. But this season has proven that to be as truthful as the government.

Would love to hear others thoughts and even arguments against.

I think mane is the one to go as I'd expect him to have a higher value of the two.

Personally I don't think Bobby should be sold, I think he will end up being the rotation player. Plus if it's 20m he's apparently worth, I think he is far better sticking around if he's happy to be a bit part player. As that don't buy you much in the market these days.

Mane moves back to RW when Salah leaves Monday night for PSG.

I can’t help thinking that Salah’s contract demands might impact Mane and Bobby.
I hope they don’t, personally I’d like for all three to see out their careers at Liverpool, but I don’t think we can afford to be so sentimental and might have to sell one or both of them.

Jk23 good point but Bobby could still do a job deeper and up front in rotation for certain games, but there is a case Bobby, origi, taki, ox could well all leave and I would rather have mane but teams need to evolve an sometimes key players need to move on also . Fergie done it for years its important to avoid predictability and stagnation.

Because Bobby has never made a motion to move and loves it here, because his game does not rely on physicality and as such he is unlikely to decline anywhere near as sharply, because despite all else he is an incredibly unique player whereas Mane is very replaceable. There’s just a few reasons.

I'm not so sure we will be so quick to offload anyone, both mane and salah have both played the central role numerous times before to really good effect, jota has also played that role since joining at times also doing well. Bobby is more than adequate enough to drop deeper and play and attacking midfield role, me personally I think it will be the likes of origi, taki etc more the fringe players who will be sacrificed.

You look at teams that dominate leagues they have to have more than the 11 players, we have done amazingly well to achieve what we have with the squad depth we have but it can't continue, it's a squad game, and consistently reaching the later stages in the cup competitions and CL, its a kot of football to be played add that to competition for places, mane and Bobby could do with a bit of competition to raise there levels again

Just my opinion.

JK23, it's not rocket science. Diaz does not play the same position as Bobbie. Mane does so it is normal for such speculation to occur. Bobbie WAS actually creating the space for Salah and Mane to score and did so for years till obviously, his legs went and can do it as much as before anymore due to age and the amount of mileage on his legs (he has played and started the most games under Klopp) . Again, not rocket science.

I can see Bobby moving into advanced midfield which is the position he occupies when Klopp plays all 4 of our attackers.

Oli I wonder if you could be anymore condescending if you tried. But cheers for your rocket science mate.

You’ve basically spoke about the past and then contradicted yourself and said till his legs went so he can’t do it as much anymore as a defence to keep him 🤦🏻‍♂️

Diaz doesn’t play in Bobbys position but Salah, Jota and Mane all can and have. Plus I’m not sure there’s much financial sense in extending Bobbys contract considering he’s our 4th highest paid player and this season he’s been our 4th choice forward.

Aw you say he’s not likely to decline as much but the numbers show that Mane is still producing better. And as I agree that Mane isn’t the same player that he was two years ago. Are you telling me Bobby is.

I feel mane is getting really underrated here. He’s not the player of two years ago but for me still up there as the best LW in the league. Arguably son but not like he’s been better than mane this season.

Mane is still a very dangerous player. For me we have to keep him, I feel he’s still got a few years in him.

Ideally, we’d keep both and have a devastating attack capable of challenging all comps. 5 players for 3 positions doesn’t seem that drastic. But I’m not ITK of contract details and whether this is possible. Also whether someone like firm would accept rotation. If all those things aligned then keep all 5.

If we have to get rid of 1 then it’s firm.

Also klopp has a long history of taking his time bedding players in so don’t expect Diaz to be a regular this season.

JK, I did not talk about extending Bobbie's contract. You did that. I also never said he should be kept either. You also, did that. Maybe you should actually address the actual points I post. That would definitely help here. Condescending? Don't be silly.

16.) 28 Jan 2022
28 Jan 2022 16:48:21
Agreed JK. Mane salah jota have all played through the middle so silly to bring up positions. Particularly when firmino is clearly 4th choice right now.

Just to throw a spanner in the works here. The Eds have said Diaz plays LW in a 4-4-2. Could there be a change in formation/ playing style as we enter Klopps last few seasons?
