He attracted some bad publicity on social media 18 moths or so back for his (alleged) personal beliefs. I believe the common opinion, which as we all know has never been young or foolish or, God forbid, forgiving, decided he wasn’t right for us.

He was making anti semitic remarks and joining in with anti semitic chants and instead of apologising and trying to make good or seeing how harmful, he doubled down on it and repeated them. There’s being young and foolish and there’s being an outright Berkshire Hunt. He was the latter.

Just as a footnote to the. Alleged anti-Semetism, he was never charged with anything by anybody - despite there being an investigation by the Belgian football authorities and by the Police I believe, but by the time the investigations were complete social media had moved on and, of course, there is never any retraction.

I don’t know if he is anti-Semitic or not but one of my sons, who likes his footie, lives in Antwerp and thinks he is a good footballer having seen quite a bit of him actually playing.
