Ok, so the outgoings are starting to move, Bradley on loan to Bolton for the season, and now minamino fee agreed for him to join Monaco for up to 15.5m. Plus neco spars fly will be subject of a bid from Fulham this week.

I think we’re just balancing the books after the Nunez signing.

By end of window we won’t be far off breaking even.

@JK23, I don’t think it works like that though mate.

In isolation, for the period June - August 2022 you could say that we spent

£64m on Nunez
£5m on Carvalho
£4m on Ramsay

although there is the potential in the future for a fair few add-ons.

But, if we don’t buy anybody else, let’s say we have spent £73m.

On the other side of the ledger, assuming Mane and Taki go through we will recoup

£27.5m for Sadio
£12.9m for Taki

Making, let’s say @ £40m. Obviously there might be other sales but at the moment there is a difference of approx £30m.

The thing is we bought Luis in January for an initial @ £38m and we didn’t sell anyone so that would mean that to break even on the last two windows we need to recover £68m.

As ever, also worth noting that the figures I’ve used are based on figures in the public domain which may or may not be 100% reliable. And, as ever, I would say I am not capable of running a multi-million business.

Of course, it also needs to be remembered that transfers are only one area of revenue and there would be lots of other factors in the final P&L report and it will be interesting to see how our other revenue streams have fared with a return to spectators being allowed in, game day revenues and prize monies from our adventures in the cups etc.

So, my conclusion is that we are going to sign a CM / CDM in this window. No logical reason - just a gut feeling.

WDW 100% get that mate and agree. Selling players now will just be one avenue of balancing the books. Performances on the pitch getting us 2nd and to a CL final would have brought in some great revenue alongside the tv money.

I’d love to see us do more business on a midfielder and let’s be honest the way this club have done business recently we can never say never.

I can just see Ed002 shaking his head whilst sipping a G&T muttering "this is why we don't discuss finances"

According to Neil Jones (very reliable) -

"Billy Koumetio the next Liverpool youngster to go out on loan. He's set to join Austria Vienna for the season.

"Rhys Williams, Jake Cain, Sepp van den Berg, Owen Beck, Paul Glatzel and Leighton Clarkson among those likely to follow him out in search of experience. "

@Stuie - absolutely agree mate.

My workings out are very, very simplistic and are based solely on the figure most often quoted in the media and I was more trying to point out (in general and not having a go at JK23) that finances are a tad more complex than the idea we spent so much on new players has to be balanced by the amount that we get for selling players.
