I know its silly season but do eds expect Liverpool to add an addition to midfield at all or do you think we have got our lot, when we didn't replace Gini last season a lot of people thought we wouldn't compete with the aging midfield we had, I was one of them I'm embarrassed to say and we didn't do too badly after did we. But I do think we need to freshen up a bit in the middle this term as the season just gone will take its toll on Milly, Hendo, Thiago and Fabs I know we have cover in Keita, Jones, Elliott Carvalho and possibly Ox if he stays but if you split up the 3 of Hendo, Thiago and Fabs then we always find ourselves a little weaker and under pressure in games be interested to hear any of the Eds views on this topic. Cheers in advance keep up the unbelievable hard work that goes into this fantastic informative site as its much appreciated ?

All the best Notsozippy.

{Ed0666's Note - mate there’s current thread on this exact topic doing the rounds today.

Apologies Ed0666 and fellow eds didn't want to be wasting your precious time but what's your gut feeling I know Klopp likes to get his business done early but in your honest opinion do you see us trying for a Rabiot type of player or do you think we will go with what we have mate cheers for your reply could have told me to go RTFP in all fairness appreciate your understanding ??.

{Ed0666's Note - I think we’ll get a loan in at the end of the window a stop gap situation.

I think ox will get a proper look in preseason to fill that gap personally. Let’s hope he takes advantage of it.

Cheers Ed sure we'll wait and see what happens can't wait to get back at it again hope Nunez hits the ground running and hoping for big things to happen for our younger players think they could be vitally important to us this season espically with the 5 sub rule in the PL this season.

All the best mate

{Ed0666's Note - thanks mate you too. The little I’ve seen of Nunez he reminds me of a cross between El Niño & Cavani but you can also use him as a battering Ram and hold up play. I’m super excited to see what he can do. I just hope he doesent turn into Andy Carol mark 2. And you’re right the 5 sub rule means we’ll see more of Elliot, Jones and Carvalho who I’ve never seen play I dont think.

Ed0666 We signed Carvalho, Elliott will be back to his best after a full preseason plus Elliott and Jones are a year older. Tyler Morton might even be closer. Unless Naby goes I can’t see us signing any body else and I don’t think there is to much interest in him unless some team has Stevie Wonder as head of recruitment.

{Ed0666's Note - True dat. Not selling The Ox is a curious one tho I would have thought we’d wanna get some money for him seeing as he’s out of contract next season. Obviously the club think it’s worth keeping him as he knows the dynamics of the team! I hope Harvey is back to his best because that kids injury cost us a league title I think. Surely his presence in a few more matches would have got us another 3-4 points last season.

Ed666 Stop gap for Bellingham? ? ?.

{Ed0666's Note - even my mum knows Liverpool are interested in Bellingham it’s friggin hilarious. I’m not 100% that transfer is so nailed on as people think? What if for example Dortmund want 150 mill and we offer 90 and Real Madrid and Chelsea pay the asking price, what happens then?? Just because he sees Hendo as a mentor doesn't mean he’s gonna sign or maybe there has been a deal agreed in principle between the clubs? I’m not the transfer guru you’d have to ask Ed’s 002 on that one

Who do you think we would get on loan or who would you like to see come in on loan Ed0666?

{Ed0666's Note - I’d like to see it mate I think we’re one short if we wanna play both systems and we have to also legislate for inevitable injuries.

Ed666. Haha love it. Yeah that’s my worry. If we are interested we should try and strike a deal now otherwise what you said might just happen. However, striking a deal now for next summer wouldn’t be in Dortmund’s interest. Would think they would rather want a bidding war. Klopp might stick with what he has, he might get a loan in as a stop gap. He might even go big and get a midfielder this summer. All I know is, it’s kind of exciting not knowing which route we will go down.

{Ed0666's Note - one things for sure what I’ve learnt with Liverpool under klopp is you can certainly expect the unexpected!!!

Triple6 - correction, there are currently exactly 1254 threads about it midfield … ??

Regards Ox, I think he stays as midfield cover. And I hope it happens Andy he also gets game time.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m excited by the Octavio links. My buddy in Portugal thinks he’s an extremely underrated player. Probably all osier talk but if we do buy him someone will leave.

I still reckon ox will get a move later in the window, somewhere like Newcastle when they are rejected by a few others. Plus I think his Mrs is from those parts so could be a good family move. Add to that any sort of re-coup on our original fee would be better then letting him walk out the door for nothing!

I also think we will get one more midfielder but it may be a case of making space before we commit.

Exactly Ed0666. I too think that if Otavio is brought in, then someone is leaving. One of Firmino or Salah.

Ed0666 i've only seen Otavio play maybe 15-20 times (mostly Champions League) but the guy is unreal. Like a hybrid of Bernardo Silva and De Bruyne. Absolutely relentless in his work rate, very physical, amazing range of passing, can beat 2 or 3 players, can shoot from 20+ yards, incredibly unselfish etc. There is literally no weaknesses to his game. He even gets up well for a small-ish player.

People will point to his goal record but he plays mainly as a right midfielder or an attacking midfielder. He is right footed so not an inverted wide player like Diaz was and as we're more accustomed to. He plays deeper and is in the team to create. As far as that goes he's been leading the charts in assists in Portugal for years. 70+ last i checked. If the reported £38m gets him into a red shirt it's an absolute bargain in my opinion.

{Ed0666's Note - Apparently he got the 2nd best assist stats in the Portuguese league last season and no 1 in tackles made. Seems like the complete midfielder to me. The only issue is he’s probably not gonna have much sell in value being nearly 28. I think I read on the rumours page that Ed’s 002 said we are/were interested so it’s a rumour that sounds like it has some legs to it. I hope so because the whole world knows I think we’re a midfielder short of giving it a real go next season. Listen I know nothing about the guy but I’m sure the Portuguese coach we have knows all about him as well a pep and Portugal hasn’t been a bad shopping mall for us recently.

Ed666, the at his age, isn’t that the stop gap option you think will work then?

{Ed0666's Note - I’d say he’s got at least 2 prime seasons in him if he signs..and I’m sure after that depending on form he might have some sell on. Maybe he is the Salah replacement? Who knows? All o know is I love the stealthy way we do business now.
