Ah yeah, take that first offer every time! no point haggling over millions.

I wish all of the clubs that we tried buying players from always accepted our opening offer!

Patience.

Thanks Michael but I’m glad you’re not running things for the club. There’s interest from a few sides and it’s still early days.

I’m with you mate 11mil and possibly a sell on clause seems pretty fair. 15 would be better obviously but we always seem to over price our players. He’s not going to get a game so let the lad move. And regarding clubs not accepting our opening offer - slightly different we buy key first team players not third choice kids as is the case here.

{Ed0666's Note - isn’t the whole point of negotiations to go in high? Some of the folk on here would make terrible business persons

I think he meant let’s let the kid go without messing him around. Obviously the more money the better etc.

{Ed0666's Note - what’s your say he’s over valued? He’s a full international with bags of ability/potential. Isn’t that Spence fella spurs want valued around the same price and yo my knowledge he’s not a full international

Middlesbrough allegedly want £20m for Spence off the back of 1 season on loan in the championship. He's not a full international, has no senior tournament experience (yet) so how is £11m over pricing Neco?

{Ed0666's Note - I said that in a previous reply but not as beautifully as you obviously

Neco would be nailed on our second choice if not for (and rightly so, he’s a very tidy player) his ambition, he certainly is not third choice. I don't believe we’d of bought CR if NW was happy to stay. He’s far better than back up, he knows it and we know it, why oh why should we sell him for dirt cheap to please someone else? I’ll stick to letting the right heads run the club and not a website lol.

Not saying he’s overvalued at all ed. apologies if that was what it sounded like. Everyone was taking the p. and I felt the op was more about letting the kid go. Not necessarily at the first offer. Just take good money for him and wish him the best. Honestly, I’m not sure what the actual bid is though 20 million sounds a reasonable amount in this day and age. I think he’s a good player myself but I can’t see him breaking into this team in the near future. I hope we do a good deal, send him on his way and he has a stellar career.

Beautiful thread - a discussion about finance., player valuation and business negotiation to agree on an acceptable valuation to both buyer and seller. A board favourite. As ever, informed by social media and without any evidence of fact whatsoever. If. You don’t enjoy this you ‘ll never enjoy a transfer window.

We sell neco- we get in leonardo. No problem. That’s how it’s done.

When compared to the money Middlesbrough want for Spence it does in fairness look like peanuts the offer Forest made.

OP, anyone thinking that we accepted the first offer Fulham made is on some kind of serious meds that they need to stop taking. That is not how any form of negotiation works.

Ed666 of course you get what you can but ask for too much and over price and people leave the table. How often have we struggled to offload fringe players because we’ve over valued them and they eventually leave for free? He’s an academy graduate is he not? Once you factor in training costs etc there’s a massive profit in 11mil. I also said a sell on clause because he has bags of potential so with a 15-20% clause, which you’d probably only get with a lower price, you could end up with more than the 15mil over time. That sounds like decent business to me.

I'm just amazed we have so many high level business strategists amongst our ranks! Any chance some you could have a word with Putin since we're all expert negotiators?

15.) 30 Jun 2022
30 Jun 2022 14:55:07
No one is saying we’re amazing business strategists or high level negotiators. Just under the impression that it’s a game of opinions and we were allowed to have opinions on the business side of things? Every single week we have posters talking about their opinions on team selections and tactics, posts analyzing the matches should we not talk about those too as they’re not expert tacticians, statistician or analysts?

16.) 30 Jun 2022
30 Jun 2022 15:15:53
It was said tongue in cheek more at the fact that the OP posts his opinion (like you clearly state above) then gets lambasted and ridiculed by people merely for having an opinion on something by people stating things as if they're facts. And the general tone read as if these people were experts in the field of football negotiations and the OP should be ashamed to suggest something so outrageous. Last I checked, this was a banter site, and no poster should be made to feel they can't post an opinion without being replied to as if they're an idiot.

What % of academy players make it this far? The ones we sell should help pay for all the others, the staff, etc and if we run the academy really well then we will get a few first team players for us and for others - the ones for other smaller clubs should help fund our own transfer business too.

We might agree on £13M yet but that extra £2M would still come in handy.

Stuie_boy I can't speak for others but I was in no way "lambasting" anyone for their opinion. I merely pointed out the fee another club allegedly wanted for a less experienced player.
