Hello Ed001

Just wanted your thoughts really mate on how you think we will compete this season in the league and cups? Do you think we will be at the sharp end again?

We will def be in the conversation for the 2 big ones (League and CL) but so will City and then a handful of European teams for the CL.

With regards to the domestic cups it’ll all depend on how the squad players step up and also a little bit of luck of the draws in the early rounds.

I was thinking about the chances that we squander in every game so many, could Nunez be the cool head we need at the business end of the pitch. I am confident if he can be that then it will be a good season but we need to be at it from the off. Also Salah and Diaz will get a rest during the World Cup so they can go all out then chill ready to go again for the second half. I think it is up to us to make City chase our tails for a change and I am confident this will be the case. The team of coaches players and staff that Klopp has put together is tight knit and such a great atmosphere around our great club, the best ran in the country. The platform the manager the experience the talent the youth the fans we have everything it takes to take the world by storm once again.

I like your positivity I just don’t think
It’s a Man City or Liverpool thing this time

I believe spurs just with few signings in the correct areas go straight in the top 2 fight for the league

I honestly think lfc midfield is a problem without Thiago an fab….

I’d rather takumi than keita an ox - I think those two are useless and unreliable

I think champions league is a far better bet an a domestic cup but I think 4th is a fight -

Can we say Liverpool signings improve the team?
Cos city improved by adding a striker

We lost huge experience in mane an origi in big games and added some youngsters

Just can’t see it.

I'd like to think, we already moved mane to the middle last year.

So in effect in nunez we bought the best possible solution to replace his goals and number 9 contributions.

As for midfield if city loose Rodri and de Bruyne their significantly weaker as we are when we loose fab and thiago.

Don't feel anyone else even with signings stay consistent.
City win it for me, but with a little luck, passion and hard work a truly think we're capable of pipping them.

Redrebel1, I disagree on Spurs esp. They pretty much only made Top 4 due to Arsenal doing an Arsenal even tho, they did their job in beating the teams they needed tobbers down the stretch including Arsenal. Their recruitment is good, not great IMO if their aim is to try and and get btw us and City. Also, remember that this season esp is one where a fast start is required hence, no time for bedding in 5/ 6 signings as they have done (LFC don't have this prob) so I don’t see it.

As for us, we are a well oiled machine along with City and tho Haaland with make them better along with Alvarez, I don’t see the use of Phillips or what he will add cos he’s not better than Gündogan who could still leave. Divvy and Taki had 1 PL start btw them so I can live with them leaving. All we have to do is make sure we start the season the way we did in 19/ 20. We do that, we’re straight.

A bit early to judge. Let’s see what everybody looks like at the end of the transfer window.

From our perspective I’m happy so far and it looks like - with the exception of the CM that went to RM - that we are getting the players the club seems to want.

I actually don’t really care about the opposition sides to be honest, as there’s nothing we can do to change what they do but, as I say, we should be in a better position to judge what we need to do at the end of the window.

It’s a funny one how for years Salah and Mane carried the team for goals and it didn’t matter that Bobby didn’t score many as he creates the space and then after a CL final defeat it’s all because we squander too many chances over a season.

So was Bobby actually the answer or the part of the problem? Because all of a sudden now and for the last few weeks we need a proper number 9.

I see your point olired

Fast start needed.

Spot on, WDW. The sale thing happened last summer with people talking smack about how we would struggle cos this or that player was not signed and how our rivals were getting better by signing players and and all that. What happened? Yeah, me too.

We are getting the players the coach wants and due to the congested season upcoming, you don’t want to be team needing to bed in 5/ 6 players like Spurs need to do. City have a rebuild underway as well. All we have to do is not drop 10 points from winning positions, see out gales better, perform better vs the top 4 rivals and with a bit of luck with injuries and ref decisions, we’re solid, IMO.

Get what your saying jk. Bobby should of gone 2 years ago for me. And yeah we missed a lot of chances. Some of those drawn games should of been put to bed definitely. Salah and mane were up to standard with mane being moved central because Diaz outshone him on the left when he came in. Salah was on fire until the afcon. Jota did well to cover them at the afcon. then got pushed around a bit. Bobby scores a couple of decent goals. but nowhere near what he should be scoring. Hopefully nunez takes the opportunities and think he will score 20+ easy this season. Top 4 man city, Liverpool, spurs and Chelsea. What order time will tell. Spurs could be a real threat this time.

Until the transfer window is shut it will be hard to say. I think there may be a few more surprises all around. City will no doubt add more, as will Newcastle amd Chelsea. As it stands I think it is us and City again for the title. We have added well and I feel we now have the strongest squad we have had since the great team of the late 80s. Spurs and Chelsea for 3rd and 4th as ot was last season. However Mewcastle may be the dark horses for top 4. They have no European footy. Less games means less chance of injuries, and are building a team that will give the top 4 from last season a game, likely be good enough to beat Arsenal and United if they play well and will beat most other teams in the leauge home and away. Can see them sneaking 4th IF they are not take seriously .

Chances wasted while 1-0 up and then drawing was a big pitfall last season. Putting games to bed regularly should be the aim not taking a one on one for granted and being clinical. Easier said than done I know I also know many teams missed glaring chances against us as well. For me teams will have the same problems as usual Arsenal Man U spurs maybe a little better but it is still Man City Liverpool Chelsea. I just hope our players keep enjoying their football without the stress and misery that hangs over other clubs. We have nothing to prove so can just enjoy every game as it comes.

01 Jul 2022 13:23:43
Really need to wait until end of transfer window before u would call the season but hard to look past city for the league. We certainly can't afford to give them a lead as history shows they hold on to it no matter how much pressure we put on them. if we could get ahead of them early on is key I think. Domestic cups I think down to luck of the draw, last season we had good draws early on which helped us, previous years we always got stinkers!

14.) 01 Jul 2022
01 Jul 2022 13:59:35
I agree about Spurs. They will be dangerous this season in my opinion. I think the top three will be City Spurs and Liverpool and there will be a real fight for 4th. I don't know if Spurs will have enough to win the league, but they will be in the conversation. I think we will make another proper challenge for the league and we'll no worse than semi finalist for champions league.

Stop being FSG apologists. If we don't sign at least 6 more midfielders we'll be lucky to finish 17th.

JK, not sure why you’re scapegoating Bobbie here. We have had issues being a bit sloppy in front of goal for the past 3 seasons that I know off and the worst case was vs Atleti in the 19/ 20 CL game at Anfield where we had enuff chances to win that game 3 times over. Oh, and Bobbie scored instaat game while Salah and Mane stunk it up. This issue not changed regardless of us scoring goals for fun. City have the very same prob, btw.

Bobbie has nothing to do with any of this. He played the role he was asked to play for years and the nos. are there to prove it. He was not, is and will NEVER be the prob, IMO. The guy didn’t even play all that much last season nor did he start the CL final and created a couple of openings whenever come on so again, what’s your beef? Why do you keep dumping on him?

For me, the goal conversion topic can be better handled by being more pragmatic, having better tactical nous to see out games better, which did not happen in certain games last season hence, 10 points lost from losing positions while City lost only 2 points. Don’t need a genius to tell you that there’s your title right there.

01 Jul 2022 16:00:33
we also started a bit slowly last season, with big Virg easing his way back to full fitness, also nursing Matip as well, we dropped some silly points then, too many draws, yep we missed way too many chances,
maybe a much better start, and Nunez banging in a few goals and Diaz even better last season, I think so .

18.) 01 Jul 2022
01 Jul 2022 18:15:05
Oli how am I scapegoating? I’ve merely asked a question.

Is Bobby not allowed to be questioned without you getting triggered.

19.) 01 Jul 2022
01 Jul 2022 19:10:09
JK, nobody is triggered as you lack the ability to do so. We are having a convo about the things we can do to get better and the topic of poor finishing came up and right out the gate, you mentioned Bobbie and asked whether he was the prob. Nobody mentioned any player by name in their comments until you did. I know you have beef with him cos the club did not do what you wanted and sell him. That’s fine. Just own it and stop playing dumb about it.
