I am not happy with the team as it is. It was a big long season last one. There hasn’t been enough break. This will be a long big season too.
We haven’t won enough big trophies and we are just always very close but not over the line. 2 CLs final and 2 premier leagues by a point. I remain optimistic about this season but i still feel in comparison to city we lack two big quality signings.
City are stronger specially now that sterling has left them so they will less chances missed and loose less balls.
We have hopes on our first 11 but when it comes to rotation players like keita ox matip etc won't cut it and our youth isn’t yet tested yet and i don't straight up want to throw them into thick of things.
Teams around will strengthen.
We should add a couple of big players and for word really i can't understand how we will not sign a midfielder this year esp given we were really in for that french kid.
I hope we pull in the mother of all transfers and somehow land declan rice. I believe he can be a natural successor to hendo in a couple of years.

And it will be "2 big" signings next year and so on!

The facts are - city will always be 2 or 3 signings better off than us. We just need to compete where we realistically can.

2. Team ethics and culture
3. Support with red tinted glasses.

Akira I can’t agree with hardly any of that Jude will be Henderson replacement. As for Sterling going making City stronger that makes no sense at all. If I was a city fan I would rather have Sterling on the left over Grealish or Foden is goal output is a lot better than them two. As for last season we lost the league by one point city had lots of var help with that and am sure if villa’s keeper had not been injured for the last game he does not let them 3 goals in. Champions league final was played another 10 times we win them all just like if city played Real 10 times again they would have won them all. VVD will be a lot better this season as it took him till the new year to get back to his best. Elliott will be like a new signing in midfield and with him and Carvalho if the first two games of preseason are to go by they are going to be flying I see the and Jones rotating with Henderson Fabinho Thiago being 2 from 3 most games with Naby’s game time down greatly unless he turns things round massively what I don’t see happening. As for are forward line it was only after the AFCON when Mane went through the middle that his form picked up and am sure most people would start Diaz of Mane on the left and I think Nunez will score more goal than Mane would through the middle as he is a more natural finisher.
So I for one am very excited for the new season.

{Ed025's Note - rather have sterling than foden grino??, city got lots of help from VAR well thats the pot calling the kettle, and nunez to score more than mane? the jury is still out on that one, i know its very hot weather mate but you may need a wider brimmed hat as it seems to be affecting your judgement.. :)

Sterling wasn't exactly a prime starter for City, so him leaving makes zero difference really. Still a long way to go in the transfer window and the 'long season' you're talking about is the same for all the other 19 teams. At the end of the day, whoever finished with most points will win and I have a feeling we will be right up there again. The key for me is that we ha e to start taking points of City when we play them.

I think if Haaland clicks early then City win the league easily, if not who knows?

Akira. thanks for the cheerful message and prediction mate. I look forward to seeing how wrong you are at the end of the season. In reality city were lucky to win the league last season, dubious decisions got them across the line and we were 1 point behind them. Let us see what happens b4 you write the lads off.

The Villa keeper wasn’t injured he asked not to play in the last game so he could be ready for an international friendly against Italy 11 days later.

Grino there’s a lot of ifs and buts in your comment mate. Very similar to if my uncle Mike was born with breasts then he would have been my auntie Michelle.

All banking on Jude what if he breaks his leg last game of the season?
What if we have a mare of a season and no champions league?
What if he says I’ve changed my mind I want city etc?
Get him now or who ever else in!

Klopp doesn't think that way though. He wants Bellingham, Bellingham wants us and he's willing to wait for him like he did with VVD! He has faith in this squad of near quadruple winners and he's a fairly decent manager. By the way Harvey Elliott seems to be absolutely flying, seems as he got injured right at the start of last season we are already stronger there with him an Carvalho.

@Jadon, hoe long have you been counselling Klopp? You seem sure that you know how he thinks - you could make millions selling the info to Guardiola or Tuchel.

I’d say we’re only one addition away from a near perfect squad in terms of both quality and number. If we could move Naby and Ox on and find a reliable replacement I think we’d be there.

Honestly, I don’t tend to care what City do in the market. We only play them twice in the league anyway.

Admittedly, we do need to beat them when they come to Anfield but otherwise it’s about consistently beating the rest, who have not remotely closed the gap.

Thiago’s availability, or lack of it, correlated with our dropped league points. That’s the issue we need to resolve.

Surely with the stick Naby gets just moving him on would give us that perfect squad.

Naby YNWA and all that.

Ed025 yeah city did get some massive var decisions the handball against you the handball against Wolves and the penalty decision in the Arsenal game Ed.
As for Foden his a good player but massively overrated because his English his goals and assists record is not great playing where he does in that city team. And as for Nunez if Jota can score that amount of goals for us Nunez will score a lot more Ed from what I see of him at the game at Anfield and over there he is a more natural finisher than anybody in are team last season.

{Ed025's Note - i will take your word for that grino mate..

If you see a lot of bundesliga and especially dortmund you shouod know why we should steer clear off bellingham and especially at the price he is going to set us back by.
Just because he is young and uses his body well he does somewhat ok in the bundesliga. The game passes him by more often than not and he isn’t particularly a great presser. I cannot see how he becomes jurgens top priority next season.
He can make him into a good player. But declan is already near that world class level and he is among the best in premier league. Risk wise declan is far less risk for me. I just hope city don't buy him.

Also we need to win trophies. This is our golden period the best team we have had in 30 years and arguably the best team ever we have had. And we have not much to show for it.
We could have had 3 titles and 3 CLs but we were just that 1 or 2 quality player short i feel.
I donot undermine what we have achieved but some of you here feel we have done it on a thin budget, which is far from truth, so if we need those couple of signings to get the trophies we should do that.
There is no fun in being second by one point and then saying oh city spend so much every year.

I reckon now he's ticked the FA Cup and Caraboa cup of the list of things to win, Klopp will revert to using the young uns and non-regulars, trying to keep the main players focused on Premier League and Champions League. so they won't be expected to play as many games this season.

16.) 16 Jul 2022
16 Jul 2022 17:00:35
Last season we were written off. We all know how that ended. Personally I think our squad going into this season is better than the last. Elliott a year older, Thiago found his rhythm, Konate second season, back up for Trent, more attacking options, etc. etc. My concern is injuries to the mids hence I'd have liked one to come in. Will Jones step up? We'll find out soon enough.

I think those banking on is signing Bellingham are going to be very disappointed. There’s a rumour that City are clearing the decks to make a big money bid and blow anyone else out the water. Hence the reason they’re quite happy to sell Bernardo Silva to Barca.

What a skeptical, negative post. We all want success but we have to do it our way. We can’t compete with City financially, we’d bankrupt ourselves trying. Titles are a bonus not a right. I’ve been a Liverpool fan a reasonable amount of time now. Remember the days of 6th and 7th place finishes, having N’gog as our only striker and Djimi Traore as our left back? Not to mention the summer transfer window of the Hodgson era. I’ll take our current squad any day of the week. There’s no shame in losing the title by a point or a Champions League by one goal. No one gave us a chance at the start of last season. We’re competing and in with a chance and that’s all any team can ask.

“We could have had 3 titles and 3 CLs but we were just that 1 or 2 quality player short i feel. ”

Firstly we lost one final as our best player went off injured and our goalkeeper suddenly forgot what his job was. Secondly we lost the other final because we couldn’t finish our dinner in a game we dominated. So no, we didn’t lose either game because we where especially short on quality.

As for the two Premier Leagues we lost one on 97 points which is frankly absurd and the other on we lost on 92 points. Man United have never won a title with figures like those. The lauded invincibles didn’t either. Just accept we are competing with a juggernaut and we have lost twice on the tinniest of margins both times.

Sterling is a better forward than Foden comfortably in my opinion. If Foden is ever scoring 20+ a season, I reserve the right to revise that statement (Foden is very young after all) .

I know Sterling isn't a very popular person but you can't deny his quality. In the last 6 seasons he outstripped Mane for Goals/ Assists playing the same positions in a similar strength side. Average players don't do that. Foden is barely hitting Firmino-esq numbers yet. He's massively over rated as things stand. Sterling is a huge loss for them. Him and Gundogan changed the game against Villa to snatch the title away from us.
