Ed001 curtis Jones, what would you do with him? I think the lad has the physicality and quality to cement a permanent position in midfield. What position would you play him in and how would you get the best out of him?

{Ed001's Note - I would keep playing him where Klopp plays him, as the rotation option to Thiago on the left side of the midfield. He gets plenty of time, his issue has been similar to Thiago's, too many injuries to get a proper run. Once he does that, then we can start looking at what he needs to do to improve, as you won't really know until he has had a run to settle into the team properly.}

Edd001 what type of midfielder do you see him as in the future? I think he has the shooting boots to score 10 plus goals a season?

{Ed001's Note - he should be capable of that, he has the footwork to be the midfielder we bought Naby Keita to be. That player who can pick up the ball and beat a player to create space to either hit a shot or play someone else in to shoot. He really needs to be played higher up the pitch if possible, to be in and around the box when he receives the ball.}

Hopefully he is back to full fitness soon as he could have a good run of games to do just that with Thiago out.

I’m not sure if it’s happened at all already (I don’t think it has) but I wouldn’t mind seeing Jones and Elliot at the same time get a game in midfield with Fab.

I have full belief in his ability and want him to do well so badly it is such a shame players like him and Harvey are being hampered by injuries. If Curtis can get get a good run in the side he will definitely turn doubters into believers. Anyway with everyone wanting a midfielder I was thinking do we need to sign some extra physios surely the ones we have are doing some major overtime at the minute. We must have the most overworked physios in world football.

Jones is neat and tidy on the ball and has an eye for a pass. However doesn’t take the game by the scruff of the neck and often dwells on the ball. Bottom line is he doesn’t score enough goals nor influence the play enough from midfield. Squad player.

Sorry to disagree. IMHO he's a younger Wijnaldum. Same footwork, similar pace and energy levels. Same ball retention abilities - v hard to get ball off him.

But - main problem - too slow to release the ball. Maybe it's a result of being overcautious and being trained to not lose/ give away the ball.

I see the talent and the potential - but I've not seen that translate to the pitch.

Who was our last midfielder to score plus 10 goals. At a guess I’d say Ox or Couts but again both played lots in the front 3 whilst doing it.

Surely it can’t be as long back as Stevie G.

Love Curtis (and Elliott) to death and am a huge fan of his. He has all the technical and skillful tools to be come a very good mid for us. He just needs to get healthy, get a run of games and improve on his speed of thought and decision-making. He has an eye for a pass and a rocket off his right foot. I mean the kid was running games from midfield in the CL in the past 2 seasons so clearly, the talent and ability is there, IMO.

Not sure he is a Gini type player BUT Gini is/ was very technically gifted with a huge engine on him and could modify his game to fit what the manager wants. We shall see.

Our whole midfield don't score enough goals. Hard to hang just Jones out if that's the issue.

I could be wrong but I think Jones is quality. It’s just his positioning where I think he falls down. I always feel he’s too deep and ends up taking space from other attackers when he gets into position. Maybe it’s how klopp plays him. I reckon not only will he turn great, but he and Elliot are the future of the club.

Not a fan of Jones. What’s he really done so far?

I'm frustrated that Jones cannot stay fit as he needs an extended run of games to show what he can do but he's only 21, for context when De Bruyne was 21 he was warming the bench at Chelsea, it's too early to write Jones off, all players develop differently.

Agree with thunderbird, the kid has never had a decent run in the team, this opinion that he dawdles on the ball doesn't play it quickly enough could change easily with a run of games in the starting 11.

Not good enough and should be sold.
