I know I should go to the rangers page, but here goes!

Celtic have done better in transfers recently because they have made huge profits on their attacking players. Jota, abada, Édouard, dembele, all signed for pennies and sold for fortunes, which allows them to make incremental improvements all through the squad. At the moment, however, they only really have Kyogo and hatate who looks like they could get decent money for, and this is the weakest the squad has looked for a while due to poor recruitment.

If rangers are to catch up, they need a run of sustained transfer success. Danilo might be an asset if he can stay fit, and if they can sign Sima, they might make a profit in the future on him, but the rest of the squad are average. If you don't stand out in Scottish football, no decent team is going to pay big money.

I also don't think Phil Clement is as great as the majority of fans seem to think he is, but he's competing against a "there but not really there" Brendan Rodgers, so I don't think that's as much of a problem as getting the right players in.

Finally, tavernier scoring the 59 penalties rangers get a season is not a reason to keep a poor defender in the team ever single game. He's aging, he's poor, and he needs replaced.
