Just watching replay of match v Villa last night and was wondering what our reds fans think about the diffrence between a player being wrestled to the ground in penalty area and no foul being given and outside the area a player has a hand layed on his shoulder and drops like he has been shot and a foul is given.
For me it shows how stupid the rules on this are as it is football not rugby.

there's heaps of inconsistencies if we look for them mate. An ex-rugby pro now turned pundit made a comment about refereeing inconsistencies that I tend to agree with these days. He said that you're never going to get consistency across a dozen different referees in every game. but as a player what you hope for is consistency from the ref in their games and in the specific game, the calls and interpretations are consistent. I can live with that.

I have said for a long time that I can't wait for matches to be refereed by robots that are all programmed the same, at least there will be consistency. I saw a video recently of a robot that was able to run as fast if not faster than a referee. Bring it on.

I cannot blame the officials fully for some of the things we’ve seen this season and last

Whoever thought to introduce this “higher bar” in the penalty area is just barking - how can an offence outside the area be treated differently to one in the area if both offences are exactly the same?

Some of the decisions taking by the Governing Bodies are just barmy - unless of course they aren’t really barmy but extremely well thought out as a way of (I’ll put it like this) “generating excitement”.
