I assume you are referring to James French. I suspect he was just recommended by Pep Ljinders. Looks like he is joining as a set piece coach rather than an opposition analyst so maybe he just fancied a change?

The most suprising thing for me is that the Liverpool website still has the following in his bio:

"He is now an integral part of the analysis department under Jürgen Klopp. "
