Ed001, i've noticed that Harvey Elliott has been kept in the Evian training camp while 5/ 6 of the younger players have been sent back to Melwood. I know Elliott was bought for the first team even though he is only 16, but can we be expecting to see quite a bit of him this season? He looked to have a lot of confidence about him, and charged at the defence a lot like Sadio does, forcing the opponent into a decision/ tackle.

{Ed001's Note - he is expected to get a fair few sub appearances, when possible. It will be when he turns 17 that he will get more games as it becomes easier then.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Forgive me for my ignorance ed001, but can you elaborate on why it is easier when he turns 17?
I know he will sign a professional contract, but how does that make it easier?

AC from DK.

{Ed001's Note - because he will be a professional footballer and under no obligation to go to school.}

That does surprise me tbh Ed given his age mate. Means he will be ahead of plenty of other youngsters that are a little older than him who will be in the U23 squad, when that happens does it must make the 19/ 20yo players think, hang on a minute how come he is in the first team squad?

Was it part of the deal and agreement that he would get first team chances?

Last thing I want to say is with this in mind our squad is full to the brim of players who are going to be looking to get a place on the bench, no wonder we aren’t signing anyone there is just no room!

{Ed001's Note - what does that have to do with anything? That is like saying Trent should not have got first dibs at right-back as Milner is older! It is about ability not age.}

I would hope anyone who is say in the 18-21 age group at the academy would be motivated by seeing a youngster get game time. Then you can not hear things like "oh the youngsters never get a chance". It should make them really knuckle down and listen to the guidance they get because if they work and have a bit of luck (it's always needed) then they can get in the team.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been off loading the youngsters - have you not noticed how many have left?}

02 Aug 2019 11:26:31
I get what your saying Ed001, I guess I just didn’t realise he would be with the first team from the off. He certainly looks like he has the ability though.

{Ed001's Note - he does have the ability, it is attitude that will determine his future though.}

Ed001 any chance on doing a little article on him please. I have absolutely no idea of the lad until we signed him and only time I’ve seen him play was his very good cameo this week.

{Ed001's Note - I have added him to the player profiles list for you.}

Out of interest, did Larouci, Bobby Duncan and Hoever get sent back from Evian? I was hoping Hoever especially would be staying with the first team.

Adam, all three were sent back to Melwood, along with Sepp Van Den Berg and Adam Lewis.

I have ed002, however I'm not sure it's relevant. If every youngster is expecting game time and chances regardless they are simply naive, similarly if they think no one will get released. However there has from the media been many narratives for different clubs over the last 10 years of youth is simply not given a chance to get through. I think I would be naive to think that as a young man if you continually see read or hear the narrative of you won't get a chance it would not have an effect on your motivation.

At Liverpool we do have examples of players that have come through got an opportunity grabbed it and never look back. This surely has to be a motivation to the younger players no?

I know in the past you have questioned how Liverpool handled young players on loan, I am not sure if you have given your thoughts on how we handle youth as a whole under the current regime, if you have the time?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are a club who are now looking to buy success - they are not really looking to any but the most elite of the youngsters - although they do continue to take one a year from Chelsea for some reason. There are likely to be changes coming regarding the trading of youngsters - the matter is to be discussed with various clubs and UEFA - FIFA are not going to be party to initial discussions.}

I was disappointed with the kane mocking tbh. But he looks a great player. I predict he'll be one of the worlds best players in 5/ 6 years time, if not before.

{Ed025's Note - looks a great player robbie?, how much have you actually seen of this young kid mate?, to forecast that he will become one of the worlds best players at this stage is laughable..but not unexpected, liverpool fans are whoppers..

Can't wait to see this guy in action. Looks a real prospect. It's been a while since we've had a silly haircut in the first team too.

{Ed025's Note - you have mane STG who has got a bit of a lily munster thing going on and salah has got a head like a busted couch mate.. :)

02 Aug 2019 16:17:57
Fair comment ed025. I haven't seen much of him but he played at 15! In a competitive match. Youngest ever prem player. You have to be special for that. I stand by my prediction.

{Ed025's Note - my youngest granddaughter is 8 months old robbie and im predicting she will end up as the queen of sheba...same thing mate..

02 Aug 2019 23:10:06
Can't wait for all those non elite youngsters to come through they'll be class 😂 the elite are the only ones who could get into our squad and challenge for places the same as most clubs. We could of course keep loaning them out until they're 25 hoping that one day they'll become worth something? Or do we just loan them until they're fed up and we've ruined their careers? Let's instead have 30+ players on loan so that in the event we get a first team transfer ban for cheating we can call them back and use them for a year as a contingency plan.

I wouldn't read much into the idea that he's been kept in Evian solely for the reason of being used in the first team regularly. I think klopp may want to just get a look at him, see what his strengths and weaknesses are. Being a training camp where the team are constantly together day and night klopp might have wanted to see what kind of person he is as well as what kind of player.

He's only a child and his immature video this week would have frustrated the management, I'm sure klopp had a word to remind him that won't be tolerated. While giving him the chance to show his ability.
