Hi Eds,

Just a quick question - as always thanks for all your hard work.

L'Equipe are reporting that a loan deal for Coutinho to Arsenal is done - are they a reliable source? Also, why would Liverpool allow this to happen, it is blatantly a deal that would favour us, in a sense of having him back in the side without having to pay an astronomical fee etc.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any loan deal to Arsenal and it would have nothing to do with Liverpool.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Who's place will Coutinho take when he cannot even get into the Barcelona starting eleven?

Seriously, Coutinho made his bed, we are better as a team without him.

Move on.

06 Aug 2019 16:52:35
How could Liverpool prevent Barcelona from loaning a player to Arsenal?

If you are suggesting that Liverpool should step in, then firstly, he wouldn't fit in this Liverpool side, and secondly, roughly £25m for a loan fee is astronomical.

{Ed047's Note - and I don’t even want him at Arsenal either! 😂

06 Aug 2019 17:11:04
Where does he play though? I'm the position where he's failing at Barcelona?

06 Aug 2019 17:07:27
I'm not surprised Ed047 at the loan fee being reported. You could sign another Pepe for that money and not have to send him back after the season ends.

Surely if there's £25m ish available to blow on a loan deal on Coutinho, that the money would be best used to get an upgrade on Mustafi at CB.

{Ed047's Note - 100% mate, we seriously need a CB not another light weight in midfield.

Come on please, let’s not have anymore of this “where would he play / we don’t play that way” rhetoric.
Where would Fekir have played, where does Shaqiri play?
Klopp likes versatile players, ergo Liverpool are more than capable of accommodating Coutinho depending on the situation to hand.
An impact sub, a replacement starter, in a diamond with Salah up top etc etc.
If we re-signed Coutinho, Liverpool win the league, that’s how strongly I feel about it.
And that’s the first time I’ve said that since 1990 lol.

06 Aug 2019 17:56:12
Imagine a midfield of Ozil, Coutinho and Elneny Ed047 😂.

{Ed047's Note - Plain Bread, don’t forget the legend Xhaka! 😱😂

06 Aug 2019 18:18:43
The Juicer. If it was really a case of "if we sign Coutinho, we'll win the league", then we'd have already re-signed him.

You just need to trust the management at the club. If it was a sure fire way to definitely win the league, he'd already be here, but clearly the manager doesn't share the same view as you.

I still reckon Arsenal will finish 3rd. Just look at Liverpool in 13/ 14. We basically had Gerrard deeper than our centre backs because Rodgers is a football genius. If you have 3 top forwards you can overcome a back line as bad as Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Gerrard, Sakho, Flanagan. In Leno at least 1 of your back line is competent!

{Ed047's Note - it would be great to get in the top 4 mate but I’m not holding my breath.

For the first time against Barca on Sunday I actually saw us defending in shape, two solid (ish) banks of 4 and but for Maitland-Niles howler we may have got away with a clean sheet.

If we at least replace Mustafi I’ll feel a bit more confident, Xhaka is a liability too but Emery seems to like him. 🤷‍♂️

06 Aug 2019 19:22:58
Surely he won’t pass a medical with his bad back, given that it seems to be a geographically specific ailment to being in England?

06 Aug 2019 19:49:36
Absolutely right 6 times. I forget what he did sometimes and think maybe we're missing a bit of Phil magic. But when I think about it, he won us absolutely nothing.

06 Aug 2019 19:52:29
Oh Juicer and OP, give it a rest, ok? It is getting tedious reading this drivel about Cou and how some of you feel hard done by cos Klopp won't do what you want and splash cash on a Barcelona flop and a Liverpool-has-been who wouldn't start for this team as we know it right now.
Cou was NEVER and option for us and Klop ruled him out of joining us weeks ago BUT clearly, that is not enuff for some of you who continue to moan like spoiled brats who did not get their fav. toy for Christmas even tho, you've been told the store ran out since Oct.

And yes, "Where would he play" is a great question. He is inferior to our front 3 by a mile. He is not good enough in the midfield system we currently play and should we need some so called creativity, Bobbie and Mane drop deep to create for us during games. We also have our FB's who provide double digit assists and can ping a cross onto a dime 40 yards out. We are deadly from set-pieces and no passengers are allowed in our midfield. We will not be signing him as a starter, a bench-warmer or a gardener on those wages, end of story.

For the upteenth time, Cou is gone and ain't never coming back to LFC and long may that continue. He has been found out at Barcelona as a flop and even Ed47 an Arsenal fan, does not want him at Arsenal so why would we? I think you all are just moaning cos we did not make any signings and you need to wipe your tears and get over it. Also if I had a chance to sign Cou or keep Wilson, the choice is clear.

06 Aug 2019 20:19:24
Yeah guys stop moaning because Klopp won’t do what you want him to do and do what RedWolf wants you to do and give it a rest.

06 Aug 2019 20:32:56
So, what your trying to say is Couts is a cert then RedWolf, signing on the dotted line, doing the famous lean while warmly giving your good self a big hug 😄

Joking aside, you hit the nail on the head, this team has moved on and evolved, he no longer suits being a part of it.

06 Aug 2019 20:38:02
Bang on red wolf.

I was one of the few that wanted him sold way before he left.

His performances were very inconsistent and when not playing on form he was a liability to the team.

If not a liability he was coming back from injury and would need 3 games to get going.

Yes he had some fantastic games amd that's all fans remember, but he also had many many poor games and many injury lay offs.

Not long term injuries but enough to disrupt his flow.

You can't carry passengers like that if you seriously want to win the title in England.

I said he would get found out in Spain within 6 months and he has.

At Barcelona you pass to messi or step up your game.

Unlike Suarez, he never had it game in game out, to step up.

I wonder what Barcelona were smoking when they paid that ridiculous fee for him.

Prefer man city to get him to be honest.

06 Aug 2019 21:52:52
Spot on, Ravi123. Cou is their problem now and long may that continue.

06 Aug 2019 22:16:58
Redwolf, this time last year you were banging the Fekir drum (over Sterling as a potential option I may add 😀) .
Where exactly were you going to play him?
If - if - Coutinho were available on a year loan, it’s worth considering imo.
Anything to get that PL title.
And I don’t feel that Lallana (who everyone happily had down as leaving), Shaqiri and Brewster (unless he’s the second coming of Kenny or something) are going to get us over the line.
But it’s all if, buts and maybes. No need to lose your rag.
I thought you were all for muscular debate? 😀.

07 Aug 2019 09:43:02
Fekir can play anywhere along the front 3 or in midfield. Coutinho can only really play LW.

07 Aug 2019 19:43:20
Took the words right off my keyboard, Faithworks. And btw Juicer, it is Ox that I wanted and had he been available, Fekir would more than likely not have been an option. And I never mentioned Lallana or whoever else you mentioned cos that was not the topic at hand.

And to your point saying we should go for Cou just to win the PL, that is just poor analysis. Check this out: Since Cou left us, we have scored more goals, won more points, conceded less goals, won more games, lost less games, amassed near 100 points and won the biggest trophy in club football w/ o him. Did I also mention we made the CL final 6 months after he left?

So with all these facts in mind, my question to you (and you and your ilk fail to ever answer it) is that why would we or Klopp (who made all this happen btw) want to sign a flop who is no longer good enuff in the system Klopp created after he left? Figure that out and come back to me so we can continue this debate.
