In the last 4 seasons, Liverpool have spent £25 million (approx) more than Everton, bearing in mind Everton are in for all sorts of players before this window closes their figure is bound to go way above Liverpool's. I just hope we don't get any excuses of transition and all that nonsense. For that money they should be challenging for the title and major trophies. No hiding place for me!

I agree to a certain point Irish, and tbf Ed he has kinda got a point. You ain’t finished yet with your spending and if it was any other club you would expect to be at the sharp end challenging for trophy’s and Europe?

Spot on, Ed25. If you want to break into that top 6 or even better the top 4, you need to spend money smartly over a decent period of time which is what Everton is trying to do. Some signings will work. Others won't. It's part of the process.

When you spend money like Everton are doing then the pressure to succeed comes with it. There is no getting away with it. Silva will be under massive pressure to produce the goods.

Everton, Leicester and possibly WHU will push for 6th imo. The team from the top 6 that struggles the most will be looking over their shoulder. Plus if those teams can take points off city we will be in for a very competitive season imo.

And Virgil what do you expect Ed to do? Bow down and tell us we are the greatest thing since sliced bread? Imagine roles were reversed (I know hard to believe! ) but we wouldn’t be praising them, we would be saying that Merseyside was still red!

Ed25 for a team who is yet to a) win a sausage since I left high school 24 years ago and b) Yet to beat LFC in a competitive game for a decade now, I find it hilarious that your lot would have anything remotely funny to run your mouths about LFC and "bringing us down to earth". How can you do that when we are not even in the same solar system as you are?

Truthfully Ed, can see yous doing ok. Finally got a striker (hope he does well), have yous sorted a replacement for Zouma yet? Though not sure about this Zaha stuff, think he's another Walcott if yous get him.

{Ed025's Note - we have not got a zouma replacement yet bill but irons are in the fire, tomori looks a good bet but i hope we dont get smalling, i like zaha but the fee is obscene if you ask me mate...but so long as moshiri does,nt knock on my door for a contribution i wont complain.. :)

I for one think they’ve done well this year apart from letting Zouma go perhaps. it’ll be good to have a strong rivalry again as it’ll fire both teams on, just so long as they always finish just behind us and give us 6 points every year!
