Ed001 with us having such a busy start to the season are you a bit shocked at not seeing Brewster yet and not much of Shaqiri. I thought last weekend when Mane went off we might have seen Shaqiri come on then. I know it's only early in the season but I do think we need all the attackers happy in the squad. And am not sure about mins for Shaqiri up to now but it's not a lot and Brewster has none.

{Ed001's Note - in the first 4 games of the season? Seriously?}

Agree0 Disagree0

OP, could it be that Shaq or Brewster is not getting game time cos either one is not needed based on the circumstances within the game itself? Just asking.

Would have liked to have seen Brewster on as a sub for Origi against Norwich, but it's still very, very early on in the season.

We're not even close to being in the full swing of the season 😂, once the league Cup starts I'm sure we'll see young Rhian. As for Shaqiri, hasn't he just come back from injury? Don't see any reason to take unnecessary risks at the moment, especially as he could prove to be particularly useful against certain opponents with his delivery.

Spot on, FORNAX. Shaquiri was good for us last season mostly vs the the parked buses, for the most part. This is cos we will be rarely in danger whenever we lose the ball. This is where Shaq is a liability, just like Keita was last season. By Ed01's inside info, that does not seem to have changed and based on the last 2 games we have played, Shaq is not the one even I would bring on if I was trying protect a lead. He has to do what is necessary to erase this reality or he won't get the minutes his fans are asking for. It is that simple, IMO.

People need to remember Brewster like the Ox is coming back from a serious injury so no point risking him while we have adequate cover in his position. Injury to Bobby or Origi may change things very quickly but as it is now we should let him regain confidence playing U23s so when he is given his chance he’s in the best possible condition to take it.

There's so much more to consider when selecting what player takes to the field. Shaqiri only played in our 4231 system, Barcelona I think was the only start he had in the 433. Origi wasn't even considered an option until we played 433, hardly made the bench even using the 4231.

Klopp has clearly shown he doesn't feel shaq can fit into this current set up, Brewster doesn't need to used until he's ready, no need to have him put under pressure if he's not sharp enough yet. Our front 3 are fit and firing, origi is only gaining confidence with the more part he plays. We're spoilt for midfield options with 5 or 6 battling for 3 spots.

Not any reason just yet to feel the need to start using every player. Our front 3 need minutes and action after their summer and with 2 games over the next 27 days we should be looking at getting the most from our strongest available options. Champions league and league cup will soon arrive seeing plenty of midweek fixtures, that will be when we might see the squad get used.

He's tried to ease AOC back in which limits shaqiri chance of minutes, mane and firmino too have been of more importance when on the bench than Brewster in relation to getting used to get up to speed.

Not sure playing Brewster so early on would be a good idea. Young players seem to have a Ronaldo-esque expectation from some so I think being selective with when/ how to introduce them is important. I'm sure some younger players on balance want the limelight but I'd prefer to see Brewster eased into the team to build up monster confidence, than see him fail to net a few times only for a select few to form strong opinions. The last penalty in the Liverpool Chelsea games a great example of how a young lad can be buried in one mistake.
