The year is 2016, we have a back five of mignolet, Clyne Lovren matip and Moreno, with Klavan waiting in the wings.

Your mate tells you in three years a Liverpool defender will win the uefa best player award, two others will get in the squad and the goalie in the starting 11.

We’ve come along way, appreciate what we’ve got!

Am I right in saying the only players left that were here when Klopp arrived are Gomez, Hendo, Milner and Bobby. I think it shows that the current squad are the players that Klopp rates as he clearly doesn’t suffer fools.

TAA, Lovren Lallana I think too.

Origi too.

Cheers Irish. I didn’t count Trent due to him coming through the youth and wasn’t a first team player when Klopp came in. Forgot about Lovren and Lallana. I think in the next 12 months both those could be gone mind.

Gomez, Hendo, Bobby and TAA will be the only survivors from the pre Klopp's era after the summer of 2020. Milner, Lallana and Lovren will definitely move on next summer and I expect VDB and someone like Aouar to be the replacement.

Was good to hear vvd saying bobby is the best player he has played with. And imagine going up against van djike every day in training! I think bobby is just going to improve.

Bobby is some player. The flicks and tricks, the deft touches, and thru balls. You can't learn that on the training pitch, it's in your head, you see it and know what you going to do before the ball even comes to you. Keep up the good work Bobby.

OP, I often think about this every time. Like you, I do not have a short memory. We were a shambles when Klopp arrived. I remember Klopp's first game away at Spurs where I was scared we were going to get a true pasting cos Spurs were just miles ahead of us at the time. We made it out alive with a goalless draw. Then, Klopp went on to win his first game vs B'mouth in the League Cup. He then got his first PL win vs Jose at the Bridge. Those who played that game were Migs, Clyne, Skrtel, Sahko, Moreno, Lucas, Milner, Can, Lallana, Cou, Bobbie. A lot has changed since then.

And do you know when I realized that we were unto something with Klopp at the helm? It was when we went to the Etihad and tho I was scared for us cos City could humiliates us. Instead, Klopp played a blinder and that was Bobbie's coming-out party as he ripped the City defence almost on his own BUT got a lot of help from Cou, Lallana, Can etc.

That was when it clicked for me. Nowe if anyone told me that 4 years later, we would gain almost 100 points in the league, make TWO CL finals winning one of them, I would have proposed that you stop smoking what John Henry said was being smoke at the Emirates.

Clyne too still remaining.

What's interesting is that of all the players signed under klopp only karius and solanke I can think of have been sold and both will turn a profit. Oh klavan too but was always a short term fix.

Har_red92, I actually liked Klavan. I know he is not VVD BUT the guy gave as good as he got. Never backed down, never shirked responsibility and always welcomed a physical battle. I remember when we played Palace at Anfied (we won 1-0 via a Mane goal) and Klavan was winning balls in the air vs Benteke or in other words, bullying him. Totally loved good ol' Raggy.

Redwolf I also liked Klavan. Old school no nonsense defender.

Same here RedWolf I always respected and liked his attitude he showed in every game for us. He of course had his limitations but when used against the likes of palace, Burnley stoke type teams he always played well.

It was when he was forced to play against a different style that he would look less comfortable, I remember 1 game in particular that aguero ran him dizzy but he was an ageing CB with no pace bought in to play in certain moments when aggression was needed.

He was a smart buy and certainly worth the pennies we paid, always gave 100%.
