Morning Ed001.

How do think Klopp will approach the world club matches in December? Will he go full strength to win the competition is the question.

Ultimately, just after Christmas was when we dropped points to let City back in. Having watched most of the games both home and away live over this period, we certainly looked jaded.

With all the traveling etc over this period it only creates more of an issue. I suppose everything rests on injuries and the like.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea and I very much doubt he has much of an idea yet either.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I am sure our analysts are on the job already, don’t worry.

{Ed001's Note - it only takes one injury to change any plans for something like this. It will be assessed much nearer the time.}

I reckon, fitness permitting, he’ll go all out for it.

06 Sep 2019 13:42:55
One game at a time. Pretty much standard.

06 Sep 2019 16:19:56
We won't see our strongest XI in the semi finals and really shouldn't need to. In the final (most likely the winners of the Copa Libertadores) we'll probably field the strongest defence we can and (if fit) Fabinho and the rest a mix of squad and in-form players.

06 Sep 2019 18:21:33
OP, no one can know any of that right now and what happened with City and all that is in the past and should stay there. Why? The dynamics will not be the same as it was last Dec. cos we had less games to play then than we do now. Let's wait and see what happens on a game by game basis. That's all you can do esp. in football where things change SO fast.

07 Sep 2019 07:28:30
Sorry Red Wolfe but disagree pal, why wouldn’t we looking at a period where the dynamics don’t change. The only thing that changes is the teams we face over the over festive period. And now, we have a trio to Doha sandwiched in between

I know you don’t like to hear it but we were seven points clear of City on the 30th December ( well actually 10 City had a game in hand so realistically 7 ) and that latter period of January is where we dropped points in consecutive games against the hammers and Leicester.
How am you just “forget” last season? To beat City we need to go one step further and improve on last season!

All it was, was a question in what is going to be an even more crucial period than last season and at a time when the team looked most jaded which was in January.

07 Sep 2019 09:36:19
I hate this comment, "Ultimately, just after Christmas was when we dropped points to let City back in."

We scored 97 points last year and we were very lucky in some games, remember the penalty miss City had at Anfield or Origi's goal against the bluenoses? We just lost the league to probably the best ever premier league side and manager in history.

07 Sep 2019 10:10:42
Hate to break to you Carlos and as much as you don’t like it but that’s the reality mate! Need to stop hiding behind this “ city greatest team ever “

Were you at the matches against Hammers and Leicester? Because you’d have seen how jaded we looked.

My point is not that we lost but where it went wrong. We have an even tougher Christmas and January period so if we are to take the title away from “ the best premier league side ever” then we need to improve on last season.

{Ed001's Note - what if they do not do as well as last season? They have already dropped points. Then we only need to match last season to win. This ridiculous insistence on things no one can possibly know is getting embarrassing.

We wouldn't be doing any more than getting travel plans in place and figuring out where to train etc. Nothing else will be done until the time as injuries, form and illness could completely change everything. They won't even organise what kind of training they will do this far ahead as these are human beings they are dealing with and will not be exactly the same this year as they were last year. They might be fitter and faster or more tired or less tired. It is not the same as last year just with a few new games because people change and results will be different etc.

It is like people think we are talking about something where there are no other factors than number of games! These are not robots we are dealing with and they are constantly assessed and training and diet adjusted to suit their current states, not some state decided 6 months ago.}

It’s got nothing to do with City dropping points, it’s about our performance levels at a crucial stage of the season, which clearly dropped after a congested period last season as is for every other team. It’s going to be even more tiring on the players with a trio to Doha.

I respect your initial answer ed001 and I’m sorry if you find my responses to other posters embarrassing but that’s the way it is from my point of view and I will respond to them how I feel appropriated.

{Ed001's Note - I give up, if you can't even stick by your own answers and want to keep moving the goalposts you are wasting everyone's time. You were the one that said that City mattered, now you are saying they don't. Utter crap this whole thread.}

07 Sep 2019 10:54:44
Really? My response to you was regarding City dropping points in your last comments!
The thread is regarding how we approach the situation over the festive period and the month beyond and how we struggled last season due to fatigue and the fact it will be even harder this time round.

Like I said, respect your initial response but I have my view too. Maybe close the thread then because clearly we disagree.

{Ed001's Note - er no, I responded to you saying about how you had a crystal ball and we needed more points to beat City.}

07 Sep 2019 11:20:12
Just scrolling back, can’t see where I mentioned I had a crystal ball.

And yes I do think we will need more points to beat City whilst on the topic, don’t you? All I said initially was that us dropping points let City back in. The other posters started to mention city to which I responded.

Let me know if you want to borrow my crystal ball for the Dubai lottery mate, then you won’t have to put up with my nonsense mate.

{Ed001's Note - again prescience. I have no idea what we will need. Or whether dropping points will allow City in or if they will drop more points too. I don't think about it because I really don't see the point. The variables will change so much it is a complete waste of time. There is a reason why Paisley used to always say we focus on the next game at a time.

What Dubai lottery? And what would that have to do with putting up with you? I don't do this for the money.}

07 Sep 2019 11:36:41
I think we are all entitled to our opinions Ed001 and we clearly don’t agree here.

It was a joke regarding the lottery.

{Ed001's Note - you may be entitled to it, but it doesn't make you any less wrong ;-)

07 Sep 2019 11:55:56
Have a good day ed001.

And do appreciate all you Ed’s and the site, even though I’m always right.

Haha.

{Ed001's Note - you don't know how difficult it was to resist changing the word right to wrong!!! You too mate, take care.}

08 Sep 2019 20:35:46
Drogie, Ed01 responded to you much better than I could have. By the way, the thread was about how Klopp would manage the team during the festive period. You were the one who inserted City and points gaps and all that rubbish from last season, as an answer to my post, which has nothing to f=do with the topic. I don't care what happened last season and could not be arsed about City or what they do.

Yes, we had a gap and then we had a poor spell. So what? It happens every season cos Even City had their bad spell (which allowed us to go top) before we had ours. We had a 7 point lead and played City in a game that could have gone either way esp. had Kompany been sent off. We lost by a sqweeker in a VERY close game so I can deal w/ that, unlike you clearly.

Also, You mentioned Leicester BUT yet forgot that we were robbed of a penalty with Keita that today, VAR would have awarded. City won their last 15 games (18 or their 19 games) and any team that does that and wins the PL by one point, should be applauded. If you thought we were going to win every game or not get a sticky patch last season, then that is your fault and yours alone, which shows how much you know about football at this level.
