Morning ed001

Just finished your latest podcast with 666 (managed to get all the way through to the end! Quality as always. Please keep them coming) .

It's really disappointing to hear about FSG's attempts to trademark Liverpool. Is there any precedent in which other clubs have trademarked a clubs name, which is named after a city? It just seems so narrow sighted of them. Are there any online petitions or something we as fans could do to let the club know that this is in no way appropriate or supported by anyone?

{Ed001's Note - Spirit of Shankly are organising protests etc. There was a petition on change.org but I can't access it so I don't know the wording and don't want to share a link to a site that blocks me from entry. Until I can check the link is safe (which all my browsers say it isn't!) I wouldn't share it with you guys.

As far as I am aware, this has never happened before. The whole idea is ludicrous and ill-conceived on the part of FSG.}

Oh Ed001 - it gets worse mate. I have been reading up on the topic and apparently FSG are trying to trademark a bunch of our chants as well including "Allez Allez Allez"!

How can they be so idiotic to do such things!

{Ed001's Note - greed.}

Even the "6 Times" as well. Might as well go for every single ABC alphabets so that every single possible words are theirs.

Some eager, junior legal beagle in the legal department probably came up with the idea, and the seniors simply said "yeah and it doesn't cost too much, why not". But FSG have backed off in the past, in face of public outcry, so I expect the same to happen again.

All the good things that they’ve done this past 3 or 4 years in particular and then they pull a stunt like this.
I thought that they’d gotten over all the 2 steps forward, 1 step back mistakes that characterised their early approach at Liverpool.

According to the Beeb, both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspurs among others have successfully trademarked their names.
