Matip signed a new deal.

Not a bad signing ( free) considering Liverpool are jumping on the buying the league bandwagon.

{Ed047's Note - you mean strengthening exactly where you needed too, buying the league my arse! Who makes up that garbage.

Agree5 Disagree0

Ah sure wonderful news. Big fan of Gomez but for the foreseeable future I see matip as our starting centre back. I doubted the lad but he’s really improved and taken his chance.

{Ed047's Note - buying the league my arse!
======================

Well we did spend a lot of money . probably not last summer but the few windows before that . And if we are buying the league there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, the PL is the hardest leagues in the world and you need to spend to stay in it and spend heavy to win it.

{Who makes up that garbage.

What a signing Joels been, coming in for no fee and bar Van Dijk and maybe Laporte there is no better centre half in English football.

Everybody is trying to buy the league right now so like Ed47, all that "buying the league" stuff is pure nonsense now, IMO. Everyone spends money these days now. Everton have spent over 300m in the past couple of seasons In the relegation zone currently) . Fulham spent 100m last season (got relegated), Arsenal spent about 150m this summer and WH have spent over almost 200m in the past two summers. Who's accusing them of buying the league? Could it be cos they have no chance of doing so hence, why no one is accusing them of this?

Bottom line is that teams are strengthening their squads right now and since the PL is awash with cash, why not spend it? Some teams are just better at spending the dough than others are and it will not stop as long as the PL is stacked with so much cash.

47 mate, tell that to Ed002 😬.

{Ed047's Note - I would but he’s bigger than me. 😱

For the second time recently Ed047, I'm going to point out that it's Ed002 whos said that.

{Ed047's Note - I’m getting banned now then! 😂

no ed he is right we shouldn't be spending any of the money we receive from players because it looks like we are buying the league. its a shame we missed out on gary cahill as a cb.

So City, United, Chelsea never spent any real amount of money whilst they were winning titles, have a word . The only team that has won the leauge without spending big money is Leicester and that was a once in a generation title win. I think the main issue fans of other clubs have right now is this, Liverpool has spent massive money for years and won sporadic trophies but never the leauge. 35 million on Carroll was a standing joke, 20 million for Markovic was laughed at, 20 million for Mingolet was a giggle and let's not forget how people chorttled when we spent money on Balotelli. Well who is laughing now . We have always spent money, just not very well and it seems now we are spending money on real quality players we are buying the leauge. No we have always done it but as the quality was nowhere near as good as the players City, Chelsea and United were buying we came up short. Now we have the quality and we are reaping the rewards that the other teams have had over the years. Buying the leauge? Are United not trying that with 90 million for Pogba, 50 million for Fred, 80 million for Maguire. It's a total role reversal but you just can't see it.

United are not trying to buy the league, Kimuraking, they are trying buy their way out of relegation.

Doesnt anybody get ed2’s banter anymore? For years and years we said Chelsea bought the league, then city bought the league, so when we splash out big sums he just feels like pointing it out, he’s a bit of a wind up merchant our old ed2, enjoy it and embrace it, but keep your eyes peeled for it!

{Ed001's Note - I am so glad someone finally gets it!}

That’s why I posted the Ed002 comment Ed 1.
All tongue in cheek! Very disappointed he didn’t bite!

Mind you, he does get a bit tetchy when I tear into Mourhino- haha.
