Ed001 would you make any changes mate for Genk on Wednesday? For me we looked a bit short in midfield against Utd and Naby, Ox and Adds looked more of a threat when they carne on. I no it was against tired Utd legs but the way Naby carried the ball forward and linked the play from deep was something quite different to What Hendo and Gini offer. Would also be good to give them 2 a rest for Spurs imo.

{Ed001's Note - I would change the midfield a bit. Milner deserves a start and I would give Naby a chance, in place of Gini and Hendo. If Salah is fit he would come back in for Origi, if not then I would give Origi another chance.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Would you happen to know how salah is getting on with he’s fitness eds.

{Ed025's Note - he is expected to be fit for wednesday longthing..

Don't mind those changes, Ed01 were they to happen. As for the whole VAR situation of last night, I propose that people watch Klopp's comments about how VAR is used in England and how it penalizes all teams involved. Worth the watch.

ed1, do you think that Henderson should make way for a couple of games?

I like him, he has a bit of everything in his game but its been a while since he really made a difference.

Just a dip in form? Or something more lasting?

{Ed001's Note - he probably just needs a break. The team has not been playing well and he has been working his backside off trying to get things going. I am not sure he is physically capable of playing twice a week every week in the role he performs.}

Cheers ed.

At the back end of last season Hendo was flying and what a difference he made in the CL. His best run came after he had been rested for a few games. We have been saying for 2 years Hendo can't play at his best twice a week. It really does bring in to question Klopp's team selection v Man U. Then to play him wide right - what was that about?

My worry is Keita (I think it will be OX) and Milner come in for the CL and then for the more important match he will revert back to Gini and Hendo. This thread could equally be about Gini.

Let’s not forget he’s also been away on International duty so I think he needs a rest.

Exactly that's why Klopp selection was wrong, if he had been resting like Milner I would have understood the selection. In addition Gini and Hendo were awful at OT last season as well. Milner wouldn't have been so easily ratled. Fabs also deserves a mention at this time, he has been good for most of this season but was all over the place yesterday. No composure at all, a rabbit caught in the headlights.

Red Wolfe, whilst Klopp is right to say that if the ref is letting play continue because he thinks VAR will help him out and then VAR doesn’t overturn the decision because the bar is so high that they don’t then intervene, that would indeed be ludicrous. I don’t think that that is how it is being applied though and I think Klopp is wrong, I think maybe he’s stating his opinion on what’s going on, but I’m pretty certain that it isn’t how the ref’s are using it otherwise there wouldn’t be this ‘high threshold’ benchmark.

Lfchopeful, you make some valid points. Klopp gave an opinion in the moment. He never said it is how it is. It may not be how VAR is being used BUT it could be the way the refs are operating mentally in the moment. Klopp also mentioned that the way VAR is used is not clear and defined cos the rules are not clear and defined hence, it always seems to be confusing cos it is inconsistent and there, he has a point.

Klopp mentioned the City game where Zaha fouls KDB clearly in the box. The ref is right there YET he waves play on BIUT is checking with VAR knowing fully well, they won't overturn it so why bother? This is the inconsistency he is talking about and IMO, the rules were set up in bad faith cos they are there to absorb the refs from blame rather than get the decisions right due exactly to this high threshold that they themselves know can seemingly never be met.

Playing him wide right was to pin the utd fullback. Was it young? It was hindering our fullbacks getting forward. It was great tactics.

We need to get milly on the pitch, we look a lot better with him in the team. We haven't been playing well for a while.
