Do we know when Origi's statue goes up outside Anfield?

Jokes apart what a story this guys is. He was down and out, worked so hard, manager backed him and scored two goals for us against Barcelona and one in the final.

Scored 2 goals again when chips were down against Arsenal midweek.

He may not be the best technical player we have but there is something about him, helps us out when we are down.

Agree9 Disagree0

He’s come up clutch a lot more times than that. Goals against Newcastle and Everton last season come to mind. He was heavily involved in our tie against Dortmund in the Europa a few seasons ago. The guy is clutch, he might not have the quality to rotate with the front 3 regularly but he’s definitely a vital squad player. I hope some day he pushes on and becomes a top striker, either for us or someone else.

Divok is more effected down the middle. He isn't as good out wide imo. He's a big Direct fast lad, get him between the posts and he'll score goals.

I've always been a Divvy fan and I am not surprised he has come good. The guy is a beast of a footballer and was already that in his teens. I remember Ed01 recounting a story where he was speaking to a Belgian coach/ scout about a then 14 year old Divock Origi and the guy said that Divvy would make it at the highest level cos he is super talented and had tremendous ability.

Already at 17, he was scoring goals at the 2014 WC and keeping Lukaku out of the team during the tournament. When he arrived here and at a certain period after Klopp had come in, he was keeping Studge out of the team and banging in goals at will. Then, hi form dipped and so did his confidence. But the kid never gave up. He kept playing, working hard and waiting for his chance and when it came, he grabbed it.

I am personally not arsed about him not having the same ability of the three amigos ahead of him. Why? Simple. If he were as good as here, he would NOT be here nor accept sitting on the bench. He has qualities the other guys don't possess (pace, power, height and physicality and is a better dribbler than the others, IMO), things that make him difficult to contain when on song. Ask Pique, Hummels, Mustafi etc. Just my opinion.

Origi certainly pops up with huge goals in big moments but to say he offers pace, power and dribbling skills that salah and mane "don't possess" is clearly false, . Salah and mane are faster, stronger and up there with the world's best dribblers. Origi notches important goals but he scores more of a poacher/ first time shot kind of goal. He doesn't produce the kind of individual brilliance to make something happen out of nowhere like or other players do.

I like what origi can offer us in and around the box but to say he has those skills youve mentioned as an upgrade on our other forwards is not what he offers at all.

His form didn't dip he was playing a blinder before he got injured badly playing against Everton just before the europa final in 2016, he has never got back to where he was.

Har_red92, you make some valid points so allow me to deconstruct your opinion. When I say Origi is a better dribbler than say Salah, I mean that he has better dribbling skills for a guy as physically built as he is. I also disagree with the notion that Mane and Salah are better dribblers. Mane is a good dribbler cos he uses his body along with his dribbling to jink and wrong foot his opponents. Origi in terms of raw footwork and ability to roll the ball from left foot to right foot, step-overs and all, while in full flight, is not something Mane nor Salah do cos either they can't or that's not their game. Origi offers that.

You also say he does he does not come up with individual brilliance to make something happen. You mean, like he did vs Arsenal in the EFL Cup at Anfield? He offers that as well BUT may be not like the other three and I can agree with that BUT to say he can't is as you say, "Clearly false".

Also, Salah is a very strong player for his small stature BUT Origi is a beast when it comes to bullying CB's. I mean, he completely bullied the Arsenal CB's till they started dropping off him. I also remember when he completely destroyed Pique, Langlet, Hummels (vs BVB in both legs) as well John Stones in the derby. The others can't do that. Origi offers this.

And to finish, Origi scores different types of goals cos he can play in the center or out wide and can shoot with either foot (his heading needs a bit of work, tho), which the others can, I agree. I propose tat you watch a mashup of all his LFC goals on Youtube and you will see why. He is also lethal with either foot just like Mane BUT not Salah which is not a slight on Mo cos all left footers only use their right foot to step onto the bus and nothing more, lol.

These are my arguments as to what Origi offers and the other three amigos don't either cos it is not their game or they can'tand that is not a slight on them. After all, if Origi did not offer some things that are different, he would not be here. Keep it coming, man.

Must agree with you on this Red Wolf, the kid definitely has something the other 3 don't have. When coming to natural dribbling skills I think he tops it for me but his final product hinders this. Naturally he seems to tick all the boxes for a striker (Patrick Klivert ) comes to mind. In the same breath it's important to to remember what the eds said how we play makes our players world class. Each compliments the other.

I want to be clear first of all that I wasn't criticising origi in any way at all as I massively appreciate what he has given us and will hopefully continue to give us fans in terms of huge moments playing a part in our history.

My point Redwolf was more in debate to your view that you feel his pace, power and dribbling are superior to mane and salah.
I respect your opinion on that but if i petsonally had to pick a player to be in a footrace with a defender to a loose ball, or be facing a defender 1vs1 with the ball or be getting the ball with back to goal while jostling a CB I'd probably have Origi behind the other 2 players in each situation. I don't care if he can do a stepover or roll the ball from one foot to the other as he can't beat a man as regularly as mane or salah do without the need for flair. You mention him bullying a few named CBs but forget about the large amount salah and mane have destroyed.

I do think origi does bring strenghts that the others don't have but i feel youve left them out, his 4 big goals vs everton, barca, newcastle were all scored from around the 6 yard box, 2 of which were reactions to rebounds while the other 2 were set pieces, I think he offers that presence and has good poaching and reactions to balls around the goalmouth that we don't get as such from mane or salah. Without wanting to seem too critical as I'm just trying to be realistic his 2 goals vs arsenal were keeper howlers tbf and to say he's bullied barcas defence is a tad dramatic, in that Barcelona game he worked very hard but I remember seeing an analysis afterwards that showed he got only 30 touches of the ball, the lowest of anyone, he won 1 aerial duel and made 3 dribbles, had 2 shots or something along the lines of that. In fact it was mane that night who ran Barcelona ragged but Origi 2 crucial excellent instinctive goals overshadowed the fact he actually offered little threat in attack that night even though he was excellent in his pressing off the ball. I can't remember the Dortmund games in too much detail to remember how much he really bullied Hummels then and mustafi would get bullied by a toddler lol.

Again I'm not slating big div at all, I just think his strenghts that he has over our other 2 are different attributes that you allude to, I think he's strongest in a central area feeding on chances in the box and keeping CBs busy as opposed to taking on players, making things happen with pace or banging in goals from nothing.

Cool debate though and we all see the game through different eyes so I respect your opinion on how you see his style of play. I'm often proved wrong about players as 12 months ago I could only see a weak, incompent, defender in Joel matip and he's proved me gladly wrong.
I just see origi is still being too raw in certain parts of his game but I love the guy to bits no question haha.
