VAR at it again in the spurs game.

You cannot look at a decision for four minutes. I understand it may have been offside by the letter of the law but it takes the momentum out of matches.

For offsides I would let officials call it as they see it as per last season, then let it be down to the ref if he blows or not, then if the goal is scored let it be checked. If it’s a clear offside it’s ruled out, if it’s tight go with the linesman similar to umpires call in cricket.

As for the other calls I. e. red cards or handballs there should be a 30 second timer on it. If it can’t be decided in that time it isn’t clear and obvious and you go with the refs decision. It is impossible to get every call right but VAR should be there to improve accuracy but we shouldn’t be talking about it after games. It’s taking away from us talking about the football.

Too many draws under Rafa, the season we should have won -11 in total and too many draws last season.

Did you see the way the blue line went through the spurs defenders knee, but the red line was at the end of his toe?! Madness.

What happened to giving the attacker benefit of the doubt? If it needs a microscope, 300 viewpoints and 20mins to decide then surely the attacker should have that!?

VAR (as implemented in the PL) is a complete and utter disaster. On the offsides alone, it is useless. Ed01 said back in the day that the camera angles they use is useless for offsides cos if it is called offside on the pitch, the VAR will use the TV replay angle frame that makes it look offside by a milimmeter (and if not, just redraw the line to make his armpit offside), they will call offside and hence, back their incompetent mate on the field.

The worse thing about VAR is that it is not that complicated to implement on its face, IMO. All you have to do is look at the way it was used in the last WC where for the most part, it worked. We saw the same replays the ref saw in the games, there was a time limit that was used for the ref to see the play and make a decision and most importantly, the center ref could check the monitor and had the final say on the decision. This is simple stuff BUT when you have bad faith actors and incompetent ref. personnel making decisions, this is what you get. Utter Chaos!
