Ed001, with Fab out until January what are your thoughts on perhaps playing Gomez in holding midfield? Comfortable on the ball, incisive forward passer, played there at youth level, can dominate in the air like Fabinho, has the pace to cover the wing backs etc.

Obviously the most likely option is Hendo holding, with Ox or Milner coming in. Just wondering if you'd consider Joe there. God knows he needs the game time.

{Ed001's Note - that's not a bad idea for some games. Just against a few of the teams that are weaker, such as cup games and to allow more rotation in the midfield.}

I’d be tempted to put in shaq also as an option as a 10.

Do you think we will be ok Ed and have enough cover for Fabs?

{Ed001's Note - yeah of course we do, we were challenging for the title before he took his place in the side halfway through last season. We can maintain a place for a couple of months without him.}

Cheers mate wish I had as much confidence as you, I was devastated when I saw the news. I don’t think we have anyone as aggressive as him to put there do we? Hendo perhaps?

Joel Matip an option to play there? He does have pretty good passing range, can defend and has speed.

Maybe a shout for Pedro to get a look in, his never really got a fair run of games to show his worth. On that note Ed, how has the player developed?

{Ed001's Note - he has improved but he is likely to leave once his contract is up.}

Such a shame, always thought highly of him. Do you see him making it in the right city, league and club?

{Ed001's Note - yes, he certainly has something to offer, he just isn't going to compete with Fabinho unfortunately.}

We have enuff cover to help with Fab's absence. Also we can alays change formations, tactics and/ or personnel to mitigate against his absence while still being effective as a team in terms of how we attack the opposition. Another thing that is a positive for us now is that we have played every Big/ Top 6/ 7 team this season w/ Fab in the team and pretty much beaten them all bar Utd so now, we will not have much difficulty navigating the rest of our PL schedule even tho, every game in the PL is a tough game.

Fabinho is a huge blow but put Gini or Hendo in there and we should be fine for a while. My biggest worry is against Salzburg away and Leicester away during this period where I’d consider asking both to sit a little deeper for a bit more cover for the back 4.

We have loads of midfielders in the squad. Don’t see a need to move Gomez or Matip into there in my opinion. The way we are demanding we’ll have a midfield 3 of Gomez, Matip and Trent soon lol.

As pointed out we were managing just fine last season at winning games before fabinho started playing in winter. Also last season we were without the OX and lallana for virtually whole campaign while keita can't offer any less of a role he's played to date so hopefully he can come into consideration too.

Our bench yesterday had Gomez, Milner, keita, lallana, shaq and origi with matip and fabinho 2 starters not available.

This time last year Gomez, Milner and shaq were first team starters for nearly every game while keita was often required to play even though he was struggling to impact. Lallana was hardly involved and origi had yet to even earn a spot on the bench, . Our bench had Moreno and sturridge required in it every week while the likes of Camacho, solanke, clyne often just filled the bench.

Today's bench had 6 outfield players who've previously played large chunks of their Liverpool career as regular first choice starters whilst keita was signed with a reputation to be top top class and origi and shaqiri are both players who not many sides would have better standard of backup options.

I don't think we've ever had a stronger bench than currently in the premier league era. If Gomez or matip starts lovren on the bench, Milner starts then wijnaldum or Henderson be on the bench. Keita was to start then OX be an option off the bench whilst lallana, Shaqiri and origi are far from breaking into our first 11 shows our absolute quality, 3 international players who've played for top nations at world cups.

This is also whilst 2 starting players are out injured, 12 months ago matip and fabinho were miles from being considered anywhere near regulars along with origi. If both were currently fit klopp would be having to leave out 2 players from lallana, keita and shaq probably not even being picked as a substitute. Very strong position were in.
