Can someone please clarify the situation tonight in terms of what we can get away with to go through? If we loose 1-0 or 2-1 or 5-4 would al l these be enough to go through as we am afford to loose by any one goal? Is that correct?

Agree0 Disagree0

Need a point at Red Bull Salzburg to guarantee progress to the last 16. If we lose we're out, unless Napoli also lose at home to Genk - or else we score four away goals or more and only lose by one goal (eg a 5-4 defeat) . A victory will take us through as group winners.

A 2-0 win will see us top the group.

Looking at the rules it is as follows.

1. Points in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
2. Goal difference in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
3. Goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
4. Away goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;

So, if we were to lose 1-0 or 2-1 or 3-2. Then we would have the same points in head to head matches, the goal difference would be the same, the goals scored would be the same. But Salzburg will have scored more away goals so they will go through.

If lose 4-3, then we would have the same points in head to head matches, the goal difference would be the same, the away goals scored will be the same. But Salzburg will have scored more goals in total in the group stage, so they will go through.

If we lose 5-4, or any other higher scoring 1 goal loss then we will go through as we would have higher away goals vs Salzburg.

Obviously any loss by 2 goals or more, we are out, any draw or win we are through.

Hope that clears it up.
