This is a purely hypothetical question and just for a bit of fun:

If Salah were to leave and Liverpool were to get Mbappe, completely ignoring the money aspect, would Liverpool have improved their squad or not?

Salah is a fantastic player and terrifies defenders, makes questionable decisions with the ball sometimes but its just all part of his game, doesn’t stop him from being one of the best in the world. He’s particularly improved his game with his back to goal recently, he’s been fantastic in that respect.

However, it is hard to look past Mbappe because he is a generational talent. A Messi, a Ronaldo Nazario, i certainly don’t think i’ve seen a better player at his age in my lifetime. I’m convinced that if Klopp got his hands on him he would turn him into the best in the world.

Like for like in my opinion. salah isn't the same player as his first season. because he's a marked man. mbappe would be too. Both are world class already. Mbappe is like lightning and clinical. Salah is more skillful though.

Guys, the days of losing our best players is over. Since coutinio's it hasn't happened. I guess his choice has been a bit of a lesson. Why would you leave the European and world (soon to be English) champions. Who wouldn't want to play for klopp?

And our best players aren't going anywhere. Vvd is here for good. Same as Ali, firmino, hendo, taa.

According to Transfermarkt, Mbappe is worth $45m more and he's obviously younger, so in terms of squad value, it could be argued that he'd be a long term improvement.

However.

He's right footed. Salah is left footed. In terms of balance and symmetry, surely Salah is better for the system in a straight swap.

Squad is very good at the moment but would still like another couple of players in. chieso would be excellent and if I had to go for another I'd say bruno Fernandes. Along with mimi. let's not rest on our lorals and keep building.

Salah is not in his class in my opinion and a team always needs improvement.
Players come and go Salah would be no different to any other player that has played for us and been replaced.

I love Salah and don’t won’t him to leave but if he departed in the summer and Mpappe joined (will never happen in a million years) then 100% yes. Mpappe has the potential to be a generational great and is already world class.

Both world class players but sometimes it’s better to go with the devil you know. Salah is a proven premier league world class player and Mbappe isn’t.

Salah is a proven, international superstar. He is a world class talent who can play all three attacking positions and is turning into a pretty good CF. His mere presence on the pitch, gives opponents fits. Yet w/ all this, he is still improving his game (using his right foot, back to goal, creator etc. ) .

Mbappe is a generational talent like Ronaldo Nazario before him. Would I take him at LFC? No question BUT as JK23 said, I take the guy I know which is Salah. As talented as Mbappe is, I can only hope he fulfills his potential. With Salah, he is doing that right now and still improving. Salah, all day for me.
