Nephew has to write a paper on Hillsborough, one aspect he has to talk about is the lack of political will to investigate and prosecute, do any of you know of a good article, book, other that he could read to get a better understanding of this.
Many thanks for any help or pointers.

If you search ‘Hillsborough disaster David Conn The Guardian’ it will give a host of articles on the subject. One of his most recent was in December 2019 on the legal system and the dislocation between the criminal cases and the inquests.
Never buy The S*n and never vote Tory.

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree juicer..

Juicer, with that sentiment does that also mean you’d never buy a German car? I’m probably going to get shot down for this but I vote with my head and not my heart, agree with the sun.

11 Jan 2020 11:35:03
What's that supposed to mean, Pegleg? You shouldn't buy a German car cos the Germans did bad things in World War 2? Is there something more recent I'm missing there?

The difference is Germany isn't run by the same people anymore. Meanwhile, the Sun is still controlled by the same sort of people who were there in 1989 and the Tory party is still run by Thatcherites.

11 Jan 2020 12:10:07
I wouldn’t buy the sun but I’d vote for who I see fit to run the country and a party run by and so far left as corbyn isn’t for me. And my point is if you can’t leave the wrongs in the past and vote with your head and not your heart then there’s something rooted. I’m not trying to play down what happened at hillsborough and what the sun and thatcher did shouldn’t be forgiven but if you’re going to hold a grudge for things that happened in the past my German car point is valid in my opinion, I don’t own a German car by the way.

Can’t believe any Liverpudlian would ever vote Tory, talk about taking a massive dump all over your city and community.

{Ed025's Note - im with you mikey..

11 Jan 2020 12:46:58
You make me laugh. Some of us are not from Liverpool. Where i live. wiltshire, you would not vote Labour if they were the only party on the ballot form.

Of course your entitled to your oppinion but but so are we im with pegleg head over heart. Why oh why start on about politics.

Yours and my polotics are as different as FSG and Hicks/ Gillett but we all support the best team in the world. let's stick to footy, yeah?

Wiltshire Red / Pegleg, you will notice that the original question mentioned political will and I’m afraid that politics is at the heart of the event, it’s aftermath, and how Liverpool and indeed the north of England were treated by the Tories.
There are many aspects to the matter and the whole north / south divide in the country but it remains a sad fact that the Hillsborough families have never received proper justice and also that people like Speedo Mick have to troop over the country in his kecks to try to raise money to combat some of the effects of ten years of Tory austerity.

Im afraid not many people agree with you. We have another conservative government. that's 4 in a row. Its 30 years in the last 40. Even former mining towns have voted with thier heads rather than what they have always voted. You have a good mp who has done wonders keeping the Hillsborough tragedy firmly in the spotlight. But remember was any more done in the
10yrs of Labour government.

The rates of homeless are through the roof since the torrid got in but at least Wiltshire’s ok. The rest of the country, the north and anybody who hasn’t grown up with a silver spoon is scum. Sorry but anyone who votes for a man who says the working class are hopeless needs to look a bit deeper. As for being a Liverpool fan you might want to see Johnson’s comments on hilsborough and scousers and then refusing to apologise.

11 Jan 2020 17:07:12
Hold on lerchy. Im from a working class family, im a postman for last 20 years. No silver spoon here.

Not all the shires are laden with money. We are 75 miles from London. We have all the same problems you have but don't go blaming people from other parts of the country

Anyone else?

11 Jan 2020 17:20:46
Lerchy, I’m sorry I’ll always vote with my head over my heart and corbyn would of been a disaster irrespective of tories wrong doing with hillsborough or comments made.

11 Jan 2020 20:41:28
Peg, I get your point but there are die hard tories who would never think twice about not voting blue. The reds have to have the same die hard supporters. What is so wrong with the world being a fairer place, with the money being spread around a bit? The rich still live a privileged life. They work hard, the majority, but so do most people.

11 Jan 2020 23:23:16
I'm Irish and I completely agree with you Juicer. There are times when things are not just political bias but of basic human decency.
