If Nobby can't stay fit the next time he returns to the squad I would sell in the summer. Sometimes we have to cut our losses.

Curtis Jones will be ready to step into that rotational role.

I like that idea, I love the player when fit but its a reoccurring theme with injuries if persistent sell him get havertz or neves.

Day and night difference between Jones and Keita, skill and experience wise. Jones is two seasons away from being skilled and experienced enough to be able to contribute to a team playing at such a high level, week in and week out. Players like TAA come along only once in a while. Wrong to assume every academy product can be the same.

I think if we were to try and integrate another younger player into the team then Keita's place would be ideal. Let's be honest, Keita hasn't played that much and even less full games, so it wouldn't be as if Jones would be exposed to 2 games a week continuously. The problem might be if we had a load of midfield injuries and he had to play more regularly. Midfield is a harder position to be thrown into the deep end than say full back but I like what Jones has done so far.

I would argue Jones is better than Naby.
It's hard to judge because Jones hasn't played in the first team with obviously better players around him. If he had Fabinho protecting him, Salah and Mane making world class runs for his passes. Linking with Bobby. Behind you is Virgil. Trent n Robbo whipping the ball perfectly at you all game. Wij/ Hendo dominating midfield. It's hard to see how he couldn't be better than naby who has Only shown glimpses.

Jones is better than Naby, on which planet? What has Jones done? Hasn't even played one pl game yet.
We will get 112 points.
Win the league v Everton or City
We will do the treble (or win 5 trophies) .

People - this is why we sometimes get a bad press as fans, stay humble, grounded, don't get ahead of yourselfs, just enjoy it. I don't care if we win the league with 85 or 100 points, it won't mean any less.

Calm down, calm down ha.

Jones to take the Naby role in the squad would be fine and he’s not two seasons away he’s ready to be a squad player now. It’s not like nobby plays much is it!

21 Jan 2020 20:24:06
I like Jones but you lot are talking madness. Keita has played much better than Jones in midfield this season. Yes he's been injured a lot but he can get past it. Look at lallana. Was injured for pretty much 2 years, on and off. And now is doing well when called upon. I said he would have a part to play and that goal vs utd proved me right. Keita is only young and will get past this and we will have a brilliant player. Look how good he was playing before the injury. Goals, assists, tackles.

It doesn't mean Jones doesn't get a look in, but don't lose faith in naby yet.

Amazing what one goal does! Was it yourself who said rossiter was the next gerrard?

22 Jan 2020 01:05:23
Mark I don’t think anyone is seriously expecting us to get 112 points or go unbeaten but it’s possible so it has to be the target. This is a freak season with the form we’ve shown we may never get a better chance.

I’m torn between going all out for that or going for the champions league. Seriously.
I just think we’ll have other chances to win the CL but we will never be in this position in the league ever again so we should try to make it extra special.
Both would be even better though ;-)

Ridiculous to undermine keita and also overhype Jones to that extent. Keita has played in 49 games over 18 months since he joined, Jones has only a handful of cup appearances so how can you justify that Jones would be the better option. He's only 18 and yes he's shining in the reserves but prenier league and champions league games week in week out is too much to think he's ready yet, let him develop instead of handing him the pressure of replacing a 50 million midfielder who's played at the top of bundesliga for a few years and is obviously talented enough to play his way into our starting 11. It's like when people blindly thought Jordan ibe could replace the quality of sterling despite not having proved anything.

1 poster alluded to Jones finding it easier with all the top teammates he'd have around him but what about how he finds it coming up against likes of kante and other top midfields that he is yet to have played against. Give the lad time he's not ready yet and he doesn't need to be relied upon and thus weakening our side.

Keita would have started against United had he been fit. Selling a player of his calibre isn’t what Liverpool do. Look at Lallana. He has been massive when called upon this season (when fit) . Keita in my opinion should not be sold.

The club has money to afford players time off. Whether Klopp signs another player to compete is another story.

However what do I know? The club will make the right decision i am sure but I’m a big fan of Keita and would be sad to see him go.

Now as for Shaqiri. He can be sold due to his performances on the field not compensating enough for his injury record.

I’m glad somebody said it markop. Enjoy the ride but stay classy San Diego.

22 Jan 2020 10:04:02
I hate all this Keita bashing. Stevie G was riddled with injuries in his first couple of years, what would’ve happened if we’d sold him because we had Jay Spearing coming through?
Give Naby time to get fit, settled and get a proper run in the side. We have a worldy there it’s only a matter of time until he shows it.

{Ed002's Note - It has not just been a case of getting fit - it was a mistake buying him and the money could well have been better spent.}

22 Jan 2020 10:04:08
Its very true that we haven't seen Jones with the better first team players alongside him, but i tell you one person who has and that's Klopp. He sees it every day in training and there must be a reason why Jones isn't getting into the starting line ups and squads when Naby does. That is not me saying he won't be good enough in the future but Klopps selections are proving he's not quite good enough yet.

22 Jan 2020 10:42:42
Seriously Lads it far from Keita bashing and to reference Lallana as an example is also crazy considering Lallana has only been a squad player at best.

Facts of the matter are Keita was purchased for a lot of money, has shown to have a poor attitude when it comes to learning the language (although has improved lately) in order to satisfy work permit demands.

On top of that how many of these 49 apperances have been a full match? He is never fit and if you have a £50 million pound player taking a good wage out of the club that has been far from reliable since he arrived is something that needs reviewing and I fully expect the club to do just that although Klopp may be tempted to give him another season to see if he can reach his undoubted potential if and it is an if, he can stay fit and do what is required to stay with the club.

In terms of Jones, yes he is young, yes he has only played a few games. That does not detract from his obvious talent, he is a local lad and it never hurts to have them in the squad, if he is to occupy the role of Keita and play 1 game in 5 or more I really don't see the issue. The young lads will only develop and grow as a player given the chance and thankfully Klopp is of that thinking also.

{Ed001's Note - I agree 100%. Keita's attitude has been the big issue with him, he should have learnt the language and made an effort to fit in first and foremost. So a lot of the criticism he has brought upon himself.

As for Jones, he deserves a squad place, he deserves the chance to get games and develop. It might even be the wake-up call Keita needs if Jones gets the nod over him because he is making more of an effort.}

22 Jan 2020 10:33:12
Ed002 quick one if you don't mind please. In regards to your reply to Beckers Pecker. Is that your opinion that Naby is a mistake buy or is that a shared opinion from within the club?

{Ed002's Note - I would imagine that most in the club fail to see the transfer as much more than a self-inflicted wound.}

23 Jan 2020 08:06:43
I still like shaqiri. Anyone who scores a bicycle kick against utd is in my good books.

23 Jan 2020 08:12:22
I'd hate him playing for a rival.
