Hi Eds.

If Mbappe was to become available for transfer and he and us were keen, would it be financially possible for us to sign him. As I know he would cost a crazy amount of money.

Also do you think he would be suited to our style of play and PL football?

Thanks

Marc.

{Ed002's Note - Mbappe will move elsewhere. Liverpool has shown no interest in him and his interest is in moving to Real Madrid (for perhaps euro 250M) whilst PSG will offer him something in the order of euro 750k per week to stay. It would be a money pit and major distraction for Liverpool.}

Would it be fair to say he could expect to get a wage, close to the one PSG are likely to offer at Real Madrid?

{Ed002's Note - This is not the right page to go in to such things.}

It's a nice idea but clearly the wages put us out of the race. Never mind.

One thing is for sure. Playing for PSG in the just eat farmers league isn’t good enough for the likes of Mbappe.
I think he will use Real Madrid as a stepping stone to the best Team in the world Liverpool. If he proves himself there, we might let him join for 50k a week.

Can't rule him out ever playing for Liverpool tho. After his Madrid days, God knows where we'll be. Can't remember the last time we signed a player on the way down.

750k holy sweet jeebus! If that happens the football world is even more f#%#%d then proper f#%#%d!

Mbappe will never play for Liverpool. He is in the bracket of Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar etc that we just could never afford. He's some player all the same ready to take the mantle from Messi and Ronaldo.

As good as mbappe is we can't invest that amount of wage and cash into one player, in the prem with the standard LFC are currently setting teams need 11 players playing as a team to compete and mbappe would simply be too much of an investment in one position for me personally. We've beat PSG before he just isn't worth the levels of money they're talking about, no player is worth the 250mil plus 750k a week! I'd expect hatricks every week lol.

{Ed047's Note - it’s a world gone mad

Ed, with wages like that being offered, would the club take out insurance in case he is injured? If so, the premiums must be huge. Also, would insurance cover non football related injuries like slipping on the TV remote at home?

{Ed002's Note - Most players are insured for football related injury. I have no idea whether household injuries count.}

The bubble will burst, it's unsubstainable 40 mill a yr in wages plus transfer fee, do me a favour.

That show pony Neymars fee has screwed it all up, and now he's trapped, PSG overpaid, he's not happy and no one is stupid enough to pay anything like what PSG did.

As world class a player he is, any potential transfer to us would be a huge business risk and very likely a damaging one. First of all the transfer fee would be ludicrous to start but the biggest problem would be salary which is where we've done excellent work in maintaining an equal, fair balance throughout the squad while rewarding good performer's with realistic and deserving contracts.

Our top earners around 200k weekly while rest of important main squad players range between 100k and 150k which is a great structure that has shown is keeping the squad settled and happy.

Problems arise when clubs like United arsenal etc start giving likes of Sanchez or ozil for example a salary that is double, triple or quadruple the amounts being giving to players who are performing better and then question or become uneasy by the vast margin between certain players salary to their own.

We would never fall into that trap of recklessly paying a new signing 500k+ as it goes against all the principles of our structure that has been operating far too successfully to risk it all for just 1 player. It just wouldn't work for us as a realistic transfer.

Unbelievable that anyone should be paid that much per week.

25 jan 2020 05:32:03
it's that sort of money that gives the game a bad name. it's pretty disgusting isn't it. think what could be done with that.

25 Jan 2020 08:19:51
We could build to new stands at Anfield and still have change to buy a top top striker for that money!

25 Jan 2020 09:51:53
750k a week? No way LFC pay ANY player those wages.

25 Jan 2020 10:10:44
I think how it works, in order for us to get the likes of Mbappe we need to be consistently challenging for titles (check) and paying obscene wages (TBC)
