Ed002, would love your opinion on the city news? Is this now the bar for other clubs? Any other clubs close to the punishment?
Personally I think it will get reduced to a year on appeal but still huge implications for the PL and city’s squad and manager.

{Ed002's Note - It is not a new issue. Other sides know that FA will extend their action on using unusual methods to try an approach FFP - several sides have already been charged - two PL sides remain at serious risk for not living within their means.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Obvious question who are the other 2 at risk?

{Ed002's Note - Aston Villa and Everton.}

Much appreciated ed 02 I didn't realise evertons situation was that precarious.

Thanks for the insight on the last few posts Ed002! It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.

{Ed002's Note - Right, it could go horribly wrong for UEFA. This whole FIFA and UEFa campaign is not the fault of the English sides - who will simply move toward a better longer term solution. Right now Manchester City (and Liverpool) are not part of that - but they wil think about options.}

It'd be a real tragedy if Everton were banned from the champions league.

{Ed002's Note - Everton have serious local problems which are more of an issue.}

I think the city ban is bad for us. It means we have more games than city at a difficult time in the season. They have 1 aim when we have 2. I reckon it'll be closer next season.

Robbiesline, you’re assuming City will be able to produce performances equivalent to what they have been doing whilst breaking all the rules. Somehow I doubt it.

Robbie, how is the City ban bad for us, exactly?

15 Feb 2020 13:23:46
In terms of the league RM. And because City will be solely focused on it, where we will be focusing on the cl, they can rest players. I think it makes winning the league a bit tougher. I'm not saying it's terrible for us. In a big way it knocks our rivals down a peg and some big players might think twice about signing for them. I don't think they're done though. Hope so, but doubt it.

Robbie, you have a point on that but for me it is not that relevant. Our boys and Klopp are ready to attack both fronts with vigor and determination. Also, I am and will never be arsed about what City or any of our rivals do cos really, it has no bearing on how our boys approach games. They focus on themselves and maybe we all should start doing that instead of always worrying about what City or club X are doing cos trust me, they don't care what we do.

I mean, the evidence is there to show that we can compete effectively on both fronts. Last season, we got virtually 97 points (wins the league every year bar the last two) and won the PL. This season, we romp the PL and in the thick of things in the CL as well. Based on such empirical evidence, I would not worry about our chances of winning the PL even tho City are banned from the CL.

Robbie - I think we should move on from this kind of mentality now. If we want to be 'that' club then playing loads of games and splitting attention has to come with the territory.
