Hi eds,

I'm sure you're sick of answering Man City questions, but I kind of wanted to ask a couple that approaches the issue from the a different angle.

1. Are the rulings of CAS legally binding? In recent years, Barcelona and Chelsea have gone with the CAS ruling instead of the original UEFA (or was it FIFA? ) verdicts, but what authority does CAS actually have? If, say, CAS reduces Man City's ban to only one season banned from Europe, can UEFA still refuse entry for Man City into European competitions in the second year and stick by their original punishment?

2. How much of what's happening can be attributed to Football Leaks? Now that the furore has died down over FL, has it brought about any positive change like the creator of FL allegedly wanted, even if it used illegal means?

Anyway, cheers, I appreciate y'all putting in so much of your time for us.

{Ed002's Note - (1) CAS provides an arbitration service and is most regulary used for appeals agaisnt UEFA decisions. The legal standing and jurisdiction of CAS is covered by the UEFA statutes (Rules) that all clubs agree to when playing in UEFA competitions and under UEFA rules. In terms of refusal of entry, The FA has the power to refuse to nominate sides and UEFA has the power to refuse entry if they wish. However, like the clubs, UEFA gas to adhere by CAS decisions. (2) The initial stories were carried by the New York Times and relayed after checking the details as far as was possible. Subsequently Rui Pinto used Der Spiegel, Reuters and Mediapart to share the stolen information. Pinto quite rightly remains imprisoned still at this time.}

Sorry if I’ve sent the same post twice but I think I sent it before I finished.

Ed002, if CAS rule in city’s favour due to how the documents were obtained, can CAS still prosecute? As it’s black and white that they’ve cooked there books in some form or another.

{Ed002's Note - CAS don't prosecute and how do you know they have "cooked the books"?}

Well I’m assuming they have else surely FIFA wouldn’t have taken the action they have? Obviously I’m just going by what I’ve read, I respect your knowledge and insight.

I’m just curious if CAS rule in city’s favour, will FIFA be able to investigate any further?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - None of this is anything to do with FIFA. The issue Manchester City had with FIFA was closed out in December.}

Thanks for the replies ed002 :) . Even if the ban is eventually overturned, I don't think I'm going to forget how shocked I was to read the headlines this morning anytime soon haha.
